A friend of mine sent me an invitation to open a gmail account before it hits the public. I just wanted to let everyone know that it is pretty awesome. 1Gig of free space. (Yeah for me, I can send and receive large files)

Anyway, does anyone know when Gmail is suppose to go public? Does anybody else have a Gmail account right now?
Lastly, does anybody know if I can put the Gmail account into my M. Outlook program?

    I have Gmail
don't use outlook, but if you mean pop3, then gmail doesn't support it yet. Don't think it will, because it relies on ads.

Looks like it is not yet sure when Gmail goes public. If I may quote Googles info site:

For the Linux users, did you know that Gmail can be used/mounted as a drive? Given, it is against the user agreement, but possible.

Hope it goes public soon, I also want an account.

Gmail is fantastic i use and am very happy with it. One of my favorite features is the 1000mb of storage. That kicks hotmails ass out of the water. I spit on the 2mb that hotmail offers.

    Gmail

Well, just signed up for Gmail and I see that adblock doesn't work. It doesn't run the same type of ads as regular syndication ads.

Alpha, you've got Gmail. Have you figured out how to block them?

By the way, if anyone is interested in trying Gmail. It is by invite only, but you can request an invite at www.gmailforums.com. Gmail users get invites in their accounts that they can send out and apparently there are many extras floating about.

I love the way the formatting looks. You know what would be killer in an email service? VBCode. Quotes and all that good stuff. I'd kill for such an email system. I wonder if VBCode would be as dangerous as HTML email? Woudn't think so.

Anyway, if anyone knows how to block the ads let me know.

Heh heh. Heard it all before. Buncha crap. If you look at the issue most people have a problem with the fact that Gmail will give your email to a government agency that requests it. However, any email provider is bound to do the same.

You paranoid nut-jobs are just too much.

What is the URL code for it? Most ad blockers can detect a string in the URL and block that specific content. That is how I block ads on this site.

It's weird. I think it's embedded inside the code for the page and is not a seperate entity. I have the feeling it's unblockable.

Although, it's kinda weird. Doesn't really show ads with all pages. Only on occasion. I wonder why?

Nope, you need a special program for that. You should find it when you search through Google.

Sure I want one, would be real nice.

I need email addresses. I'll send one to each of you. I'm saving the last for myself to start up a second account.

Anyone else who wants one can make a request here: www.gmailforums.com

    No problem guys. Enjoy.

If I might make a suggestion on how you might help me out now. I have made a suggest here: http://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_suggest/ about adding a quote feature in Gmail. They've got a category of html additions (bold, italics, and such) but, what I'd love is a good quote system like a bulletin board, (especially Sciforums. I love the quotes here.) So, go to that link and make some suggestion. Add the quote as a write in. You know you'd love it too.
