Okay, so I'm apparently nominated for teh Global Young Leaders Conferance. Has anyone here done this, or does anyone here know about it? is it legit? is it worth it?

sounds like a forum for kids to daydream about telling their parents what to do, or at least their governmnets..

Damn good idea realy!

Two friends of me did that. It seems to be a bit elitistic and snobby, and I really do not see the gain in it.

But then again, it obviously did not do any harm either, but since alcohol was prohibited and everyone had to either wear dresses/suits or that stupid GYLC shirt, it did not sound that appealing.

It's worth it in that it gives you a voice which you can use to bring to attention crucial issues you want addressing for the youth etc

have you decided what you would say, explore about so as to communicate about it?

For some reason, Hitlers youth springs to mind.

Well, i've looked through a lot of information. It looks a lot like summer camp for debators (like me!) So teh main reason to go, i guess, is to find contacts and learn a bit about the US government.

Our global young leaders are not so good at spelling. Put it on the agenda...immediately.

Oh yes, you can learn quite a lot there, for example, those visitors from the middle east can learn how entertaining a throughout search and interview that last some hours an be. For that's what they face when they want to enter the country. Sounds good.

And yes, you debate there, but you do not really learn anything about the US government, mostly you will find formal debates on various global issues. And contacts...well, most people you will find there are arrogant idiots, at least from what heard.
But hey, if you want to go, try to have fun.

vslayer - even the Nazi party functioned somehow. I really don't mind learning how such things function.
monkey - agreed.
dreamwalker - not just middle easterners learn that type of thing . . . that happens to me pretty much anytime i go down there. it's down side to having a multitude of stamps in one's passport . . . from contries like Indonesia. And i do expect some people to be arrogant idiots - that just happens in things like debate and government. But i'm sure that there'll be some wheat in the chaff.
