View Full Version : Girlfriend's bday :)
It's my gf's birthday in a week. We have been dating for a little over 2 weeks now, have known each other a little more... i have no idea what to get her. Especially this early in our relationship, i think its rather important not to mess up :-P .. any help/ideas/philosophies? thanks :)
NenarTronian 09-30-02, 02:17 PM Sorry to not be helpful - but shouldnt YOU know what to get your girlfriend? You'd know more than us..maybe. Girls are complicated and complex..why not talk to her girl friends about it? Girlfriends' girl friends are always helpful about things like that. :D  :bugeye:
Pollux V 09-30-02, 02:20 PM Plus, she WILL find out that you've been asking about what to get her for a gift, so that'll score you some more browny points.
grazzhoppa 09-30-02, 02:25 PM If she's a girly girl (no offense) get here a nice sized teddy bear and then right some cute poem...most girls (I'm thinking you guys are in highschool) like bears and the poem is a real nice touch to say you care about her.
If you know what kind of music she's really into, get a cd that she wants or if her favorite band is touring you could try to get some tickets.
Candy, my friend, candy. If you know her favorite candy, it's always a good last resort. Of course you might want to do something else too, candy is a little impersonal but never the less, its sweet :)
Maybe some of the women around this forum could chime in.
NenarTronian 09-30-02, 02:32 PM I like candy. My buddy works in/dad owns a candy business...and he always brings in BAGS AND BAGS of candy. Chocolates, fruity chewy stuff, fruity hard stuff, jawbreakers, licorice, chocolate covered strawberries the other day, gummy-bear type things, sour stuff....mm. English is fun. :D
Girls like to know that you pay attention, so your gift must be personal. However at 2 weeks I don't think that it really is that important. As you get to know her pay attention to what she likes. ESPECIALLY the littlest things. Like if you are in a store and she says "hey this is kinda cute" make sure you make a note of what it was. You'll get major brownie pts. At two weeks I think almost anything would be ok. Sorry if I wasn't too helpful. Hey I'm looking out for your longterm :p
can't give you advise since i don't even know your gf just one little hint:
do not forget that date!!!!!!! ;)
Bachus :) lol, def. :)
Halo: you were very helpful, thanks :)
NenarTronian: Weve only been dating two weeks, so i'm just looking for general hints for a sweet gift...
grazzhoppa: thanks for the idea, stuffed toys are def. good now that i think about it :) teddy sounds nice :) candy is a definate also :)
You're going to buy her a teddy on your 2 week anniv? You big pimp you. Victoria Secrets has some nice teddy's.
grazzhoppa 09-30-02, 05:39 PM HAHAHHAHAH. Giving her a teddy from Victoria's Secret on the second week sends a great message for the rest of the relationship

Buy computer stuff for her. Believe me, nothing says "I love you" like a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX. Or extra memory!
(Note: This post was simply an excuse for me to ogle hardware. I assume no liability if you follow my sucky advice.)
NightFall 09-30-02, 09:29 PM get her flowers with whatever gelse ou get her. this is REALLY important.. well... most of us anyway, get skipped alot on the flower holidays, and they make us feel so specail.. dont get JUST flowers of course... but they are a wonderful add-on.
find out if she actualy would WANT a teddy bear... they seem to often be the fall back gift and accumulate in closets very quickly. but.. if she does, they are great little critters to hold onto things.. like.. cds.. concert tickets.. poems... a hand made reservation card for a place you plan to take her for dinner... etc...
I usually don't care about what my girlfriend want but instead I am usually more worried about what I want to give her. I think flowers and cards are really chessy. I prefer to give her something she will forever associate her memory with. Something that may requires some thoughts and creativity. However, I would not give a girl who I have been with for 2 weeks something I would for someone I have been with for 5 years. So use some common sense. The may sound very strange, but the bottom line is I believe it is for your best interest to give her something for her to own that fits your needs, not something that fits her needs. Something that may contain a piece of your personality or your soul. Or it can be something to be added to her memory. Since you only have gone out with her for 2 weeks, just take her out to a date or something is enough.
If there is something she really likes or needs, like computer stuff for Xev for example, you don't need to wait until special occasion for buy it for her. Special occasion is for something special. As long as you don't spend beyond your wallet.
If you are worried about your woman not liking your gift, just give her the receipt with the gift so that she has the option to return it for cash. women always like cash :D

Nothing says "I love you" like firearms. Buy her a nice gun.

Good point. So suprise her by fucking her brains out all day.

I know, Nightfall. That is why one must buy them oneself.
*Grumbles that the best birthday gift she's ever recieved is her 790*

Get her something under $10, it's only 2 weeks into a relationship.
If you DO write a poem, make it extremely FUNNY. Parts of it should be about you liking her, NOT LOVING her.
If you write a serious and deeply emotional love poem, you'll come off as needy and desperate.
grazzhoppa 10-01-02, 06:50 AM Ignore Choosen's advice because he follows Don Juan philosophy...just get something that you feel comfortable getting her, I like the idea of just taking her out on a nice date...sweet, caring, spend some time with her and its more personal than getting her a bear, but don't forget the candy :D
aw no, no poems! i got a poem from a guy once, and it scared the hell out of me.. personally, i enjoy the more ridiculous gifts..
things that i liked very much:
a cat
a knight's helmet (probably the weirdest gift ever)
a weekend in Paris (i live in europe, so it's not that far away, but a weekend out is always ok i guess.. )
ummm what else..
a mug with "my favorite grandma" on it filled with candy :D (don't ask)
a frog shaped computer mouse
a day on a race track where i could drive myself (but that's probably a little too expensive)
the most stupid fridge magnets you can find (have to be really really stupid)
and the best of all: champagne & strawberry breakfast after a long night with hardly any sleep at all! ;)
what are her hobbies, age, etc? tell us more! more background info needed!

2. :D
3. a frog shaped computer mouse?? because it's stupid enough to be cool! the buttons are the eyes of the frog. wasn't able to find it on the internet.. sorry!

i think it is a bit soon for jewelry, but.. just to keep in mind, if sometime you DO plan to buy it for her.. make sure she doesn't have allergies... some people (like me) can't wear anything under 14k gold.. and ive found. some cna't wear gold at all... always something to check up on.

Pretty cool helmet.
i don't see why people want "special" mouses nobody ever sees or uses my puter but me :)
Hey Frieda that's a spiffy looking helmet :) Makes me want the weekend to come sooner cuz me and my sisters and some other friends are gonna go to the Rennaissance Festival this Sat. I went last year and had a great time and have had withdrawals ever since. It's so cool.

That phrase reminds me of two things.
1. The spam email I get constantly. "nothing says I love you like growing your cock 1 to 3 inches."
2. Mallory Knox. She has quite a collection. I haven't talked to her since beginning of summer.
Asguard 10-01-02, 06:50 PM thats why you get silver:D
they dont put nickle in silver jewlry
i know what you mean cause mum has the same problem, it gives her exma
NightFall 10-01-02, 09:25 PM yes they do.
i can't wear sterling silver. ive tried many a pair of earings.. the posts must be gold. that is why i got my first ever pair of earrings (besides the studs i promtly lost) for H.S. graduation, and ive had my ears peirced since 7th grade.
and those stupid idiots at the Balfour place that sold me my class ring said is was tasen.. no.. teezn.. tanzenite? gah. something like that. anyhow.. they said is was made for people who didn't want to spend the $300 for gold, but had allergies to the silver. so.. i was excited, and bought it. 2 weeks later, i feel my finger itching and.. (this is really gross) look under it to see this nasty pussy (how do you make that pronouce the other.. not the.. well you'll get it) blister all the way around my finger. usually i get tiny red bumps.. but.. this was awful!!... i still have to call them and tell him i want it switched to white gold for free, otherwise their getting a lawsuit for false advertisement, and endangering my damn finger, and my career, and. -grrr-. oh.. i could be rich of them idiots. but anyhow....
tip: if you have lewelry you LOVE, but cant wear it... try coating it in a clear nail strngthener polish. but be careful when it starts to chip.
Asguard 10-02-02, 01:48 AM stuff it
from now on i am buying STEEL jewlry
it looks like silver but NO ONE is alergic to stainless steel
stuff it
from now on i am buying STEEL jewlry
*Cough* Handcuffs *Cough cough*
Asguard 10-02-02, 02:29 AM *evil grin*:D
Better get those fluffy ones ;)
Asguard 10-02-02, 02:43 AM now where is the fun in that
if ur going to use a cat of nine tails who cares if the cuffs are fluffy:p
Cuts from cuffs can be easily seen since they are in the wrist, the cat with 9 tails cuts are usually on the back so not much people will see it.
God i wish i didn't have to explain that ;)
Anthony is wise. In any case, jesus hell, if you're going to worry about what is uncomfortable, use lace.
And how the hell did this discussion go from birthday gifts to bondage?
Edit:
Cuts from cuffs can be easily seen since they are in the wrist, the cat with 9 tails cuts are usually on the back so not much people will see it.
Not something that one can tell, unless you're looking for it. The marks that handcuffs might leave coincide nicely with the way your skin "puckers" at your wrist. Especially if your hands are behind your back and below your heart for long period of time - cuts off circulation, wrists swell, sucks. Of course, the swelling goes down when you restore full circulation.
Unless you have a cheap pair with rough edges (such as the cops use) you should have no problem.

Aww..poor you :(
I love to wear Gold...:D
NightFall 10-02-02, 06:22 PM no no. i can wear gold, it just has to be atleast 14K.
its a friend of mine that cant wear gold.
she hates jewlery and does not wear any except for bracelets. those she likes siver over gold. so far, this is how im looking at it: candy, poem, cute card, and a build-a-bear gift certificate (its supposeed to be a very cute place to go on a date).
Also, is perfume a good gift, or will it be risky to choose one that she likes without knowing for sure?
oh yea, not sure why i forgot to post this in original quote, but were both 16, this is her sweet 16, and were both in HS (juniors)...
grazzhoppa 10-02-02, 07:32 PM That sounds like a good plan, hmm you should try to think of something special for her sweet 16...but it's only been a couple weeks....hmm that's hard.
If you don't think giving her a gift certificate is too impersonal go for it!
the gift certificate is to a place where you build teddy bears... so ill probably go with her sometime that weekend
grazzhoppa 10-02-02, 08:24 PM oh, you'll help her make it, that's sounds great. Wish her a happy 16!
NightFall 10-02-02, 10:34 PM the build a bear gift is great!!!
Also, is perfume a good gift, or will it be risky to choose one that she likes without knowing for sure?
i think id pass on that. i have a hard enough time finding something that ill wear for myself. i think it owuld be hard to find something for someone else... but if you see something that you really like.. and you are good at chosing that sort of thing... well.. its up to you.....
