countezero...it would be nice if you would have said something along with that link.

As for war on terror being a phony...it is partially that way

I respect Newt Gingerich. I think he's one of the smartest people in politics. I read the article, unfortunately it was just a teaser to a speech he's going to give September 10.

I do agree we should set the nation's scientists on a "moon shot" type quest to get us off oil and defund the middle east.

But I can't really comment on the rest until I hear Newt's speech.

I posted the link to generate discussion. I'll chime in once I have something coherent to say about it. My initial impression is: Wow. Newt's a pretty big right-winger, and here he is laying into his party and his president.

This may simply mean he's about to jump into the race. He'll give some kick ass speech on Sept 10 laying out his plan to kick terrorist ass and announce that he intends to run so he can implement it.

I tried to get Newt to tell me last year if he was going to run. He wouldn't, which to me, meant that he was. His candidacy would be ... interesting. He's a man with a long past, and most of it is controversial.

The lefties could have used a little support for that idea, back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s.

They sure as hell didn't get any from Newt.

It's a little late, now. Do you suppose Newt will end up backing Kucinich, once somebody notices he's one of the people in America most responsible for levering W into the White House in the first place?

"I believe we need to find leaders who are prepared to tell the truth ... about the failures of the performance of Republicans ... failed bureaucracies ... about how dangerous the world is,"

"We've been engaged in a phony war, the only people who have been taking this seriously are the combat military."

I think that if you fuse the two quotes above from Gingrich, you get the idea behind the “phony war” statement.

It’s not that we should not be fighting; it’s that we should be fighting in full force and covering all avenues. How can you say we are fighting this war fully when soldiers are questioned endlessly for their actions, whether merited or not? How can you say we are taking this war seriously when the president does not give a monkey’s ass about our own borders, and has allowed the conversation to be fully controlled by falsely alleged phobias against Mexicans? Naturally the issue has greatly focused on illegal Mexicans, but it is a much deeper issue than that.

Gingrich is the best republican out there and the left knows it. That’s why he has been vilified by them for years.

Count on Bush to cave to lefties demands on everything. I have said it before and am saying it again. Bush is the lefts biggest ally with the two exceptions: defending America and taxes. Never has an ally been so hated.

Most classical liberals and true conservatives do not like Bush with two exceptions: defending America and taxes.

My expectation for you lefties realizing this is not very high.

The War on Terror is equivalent to War on Murder. It's a War that cannot be won. As long as man crawls or walks the earth, their will be murder and terrorism. It shouldn't be treated as a war, it should be treated as a law enforcment issue. Here's a stat that proves the war on Terror is just a over-hyped political tool.

How about a war against un-safe Transportation?
