Whoever designed the German keyboard deserves to be shot. That is all.

I gather the qwerty is not standard?

Or there is a z inplace of the y?

Zes, the 'y' and 'z' keys are inverted. also, they've put ä where the ' button is, which happens to require a shift press as well. Parenthesis are over 8 and 9. - is next to the right shift button. There's a > button where the left shift button should be. It took me about 5 minutes (seriously) to find the @ symbol (under the Q), and another 5 to find the mysterious 'Alt Gr' key to activate it. Bizarre, I sez. It's effectively reduced me to a hunt and peck typist. Gah!

You have a German keyboard, despite living in Canada?
