In response to Buffalo Roam’s recent posting of the Geneva conventions, sam says that they apply to the israelis but not hamas because… But in this thread sam attacks the idea that hamas is a terrorist group by contradicting herself and claiming the opposite… This kind of thing is why I don't participate in this forum. There is simply no way to reason with sam's kind of hatred. I wish people would simply stop responding to her. This way it would be much more difficult for the moderators to characterize her threads as honest debate and therefore consistent with the posting guidelines of this forum.

I think they're all evil. Both Hamas and Israel have divorced themselves from the community of civilized nations. At this point it no longer matters "who started it." The leaders of Hamas, who were elected democratically and therefore express the will of the majority of the citizens of Gaza, have publicly stated many times that they wish to deny Israel the right to exist--which presumably has to include the people who live there. Nonetheless, it's clear that both sides are determined to kill off a significant percentage of the population of the other side--including at least 50% noncombatants in both cases based on performance to date. Fuck 'em both. Abraham was arguably the most evil person who ever walked the earth and humanity will be lucky to survive his legacy of hatred and violence.

Nope - Canada had pretty much nothing to do with the creation of Israel. None of my ancestors had anything to do with it or probably anything to do with the Holey Land in probably 10-20000 years. So...I don't give a fuck. Not my problem. I got my own problems than to argue about shit that's not my problem.
That is what the Gaza sticky thread was probably intended to stop. People on both sides of the argument have started the other Gaza threads. I doubt that anybody sure of their beliefs can have their minds changed. Their maybe one or two people wandering by who's opinion is not yet formed, especially if they are very young. They probably would read some things here that they would not hear from the main stream media. This Gaza subject and the greater context for Gaza is very much debatable. It is just that this debate is not winnable. No debate is winnable if neither side is willing to accept defeat. The consensus opinion of they bystanders could change as one side or the other performs better in the debate. One side could perform better by having better logic or they could perform better simply by having more people saying more in support of their side. It might be nice to restrict Gaza talk to the Gaza thread if the Gaza talk was drowning out some other debate of higher intellectual content. But which topic would that be? Just start the better non-Gaza threads.

Correction. They deny Israel the right to exist only if Israel denies the Palestinians their birthright. The stolen Palestinian territories. Negotiations start with MUTUAL recognition. Yes. An oppressed people have the RIGHT to resistance. Why is this so hard to grasp? Colonialism created oppression. The world over. The British murdered thousands of Boer woman and children in concentration camps as a lesson to the Boer resistance fighters. Yesterdays heroes and resistance fighters are today`s "terrorists".
