I heard a story on the morning news about cost projections (in dollars, not lives) for the upcoming war. The "experts" are all over the place on this one; it seems there are too many variables involved. One guess was that it will cost each American family anywhere from $1000 to $20,000. Where is this money going to come from?

A few minutes later, this same news program interviewed Americans complaing about the recent increase in the price of gasoline.

    Major Brainstorm
I know where to get the money for GW's war! Every last penny should be paid for by a new American gasoline tax. You see, after the war Bush is going to suck so much oil from Iraq that the entire country will turn into a vast sink-hole. But even with this plunder of "free" oil; under my plan, American SUV drivers will still have to take a second mortgage on their house to drive to the Mall.

I'm feeling so clever this morning

One place that is already fixing to have a tax increase is cigarettes. It is planned to nearly double the federal tax on cig's. What this will mean will be that we are following in Europes footsteps. Now those that will smoke will no longer use premade cigarettes. Instead they will roll their own.

Petrol prices in Australia have jumped ten cents per litre in recent weeks. Bush has boosted spending on military, intelligence agencies, and the Pentagon.

It's a little different in Australia. Our government simply refuses to spend enough to give us a real military, only provides enough money to create a force which can be rented out to the USA. So rather than increase military spending, they simply take money away from the air farce and navy and give it to the army to train more special forces teams.

The prices in gas do not reflect the increase in state and federal taxes since the last days of high gas prices. What is showed in the news does not count that when comparing the increase. So you see a price increase that is hidden within.

The economy always does great during the time of war. Followed by times of inflation right after it is ended, while we try to pay for what the government has wracked up in charges during the time of war. Wish I could run my household that way. Maybe I could wait till I was dead and gone for the bills to come in...

I don’t think we can even remotely imagine the cost. Even today, in the news when Bush was asked for an estimate, he just keep repeating “ I don’t know, but it will be cheaper than if we don’t do something”. I wonder what does it mean? It is so hard to workout what’s in his mind!

Afghanistan cost already over 3000 victims!

Somehow, Microzoft, I think his coin of the realm is a bit different than yours...

Iraqi petroleum is going to be America's most expensive drive to the gas station in history. King Cowboy is going to get a lot of Buckaroos burned horribly, playing with fire in such an explosive environment. I'm looking seriously at alternatives to petroleum (which I'm learning are not so far from reach) for personal transportation and heating, because we're in for some serious sticker shock in ConsumerLand.
