View Full Version : GOP Lawmaker Resigns Amid Sex Scandal(another gay Republican)
Ganymede 11-01-07, 10:29 AM OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A Republican state legislator who repeatedly voted against gay rights measures resigned his seat Wednesday amid revelations he had sex with a man he met at an erotic video store while in Spokane on a GOP retreat.
In a written statement, Rep. Richard Curtis, of La Center, said that while he believes he's done a lot of good during his time in the Legislature, "events that have recently come to light have hurt a lot of people."
"I sincerely apologize for any pain my actions may have caused," he wrote. "This has been damaging to my family, and I don't want to subject them to any additional pain that might result from carrying out this matter under the scrutiny that comes with holding public office."
Three days earlier, Curtis had insisted to his local newspaper that he was not gay and that sex was not involved in what he said was an extortion attempt by a man last week.

Nikelodeon 11-01-07, 10:36 AM GOP retreat?
iceaura 11-01-07, 11:25 AM GOP retreat? It's like the Boy Scouts, only without tying the knots. Church groups have them, too. One becomes firm in one's faith, through the attentions of like-minded people.
http://slog.thestranger.com/2007/10/xxxgay Has some details - not only of the boner-headedness of the acts, but the multiple layers of lying involved.
edit: I take back the stuff about the knots. Apparently, knots are involved.
Baron Max 11-01-07, 11:53 AM See? It just shows y'all that being gay is a bad, bad thing! :D
Even the slightest hint of gay-ness is openly detested, costing people their careers. Yep, gay is a bad, bad thing.

Orleander 11-01-07, 11:59 AM Its not the gay part, its the lying part. Which really, we should expect from a politician. So I don't know why people are shocked anymore.

Yeah, sure .....sure it is! :D

Orleander 11-01-07, 12:48 PM OK, for me it is. :p
countezero 11-01-07, 02:28 PM Part of me thinks the Republicans extreme rightousness on sexual matters more than opens the door for this kind of condemnation, but the other part of me thinks this isn't a story if it's a Democrat (IE - The Media aren't scurrying about looking for Gay Democrats, when surely there are some).

You're misssng the point Count. There's plenty of openly Gay Democratic Politicians. Remember Jim McGreevy? Governor of New Jersey, he was forced to retire after the public learned that this once proud Married Governor was a gay sexaholic behind closed doors? It's not the act, it's the lie. That's why Republicans get immolated in pulbic is due to their hypocrisy.

no its the hipocracy that people don't like not that they are gay
Challenger78 11-01-07, 05:24 PM Isn't the GOP like anti gay ? So it's a combination of hypocrisy and deceit, neither is good.

Well the fact that they are anti gay while engaging in private gay escapade's...
Michael 11-01-07, 06:20 PM ROTFLMFAO!!!
Every other week you see a good Christian Republican getting caught with a penis in his mouth - God it's funny. I love it.
GOP = Gay old Party
Haaahahahahahaaaa!!!
Too funny,
Michael
PS: What makes it so funny is that Republicans often run on the Christian moral-ticket and are anti-homosexuals. When so many of them get caught we can see that it's obvious most Republicans just pretend they are good Christians and in reality just say whatever they have to say to get elected. This is also funny on another leave, being atheist we get a kick out of seeing the sour stupid look on the faces of all these Christians who can't believe they bought into another lie - thank God Jesus was born of a Virgin though..... ;) Selling bullshit to Christians is as easy as stealing candy from a baby.
Speaking of Babies, Baby Jesus is crying in Heaven - Haaaa! cry b*tch!
