The meaning of life is trying to find the meaning of life. If you think you find it or not is totally up to you. You can be ambivalent forever or just chose the best thing you can come up with. Or simply settle with thinking there is no meaning. But I'm guessing it takes more than a lifetime to be really sure.
It can be translated in the concept of an aim: eg. I want to get the Nobel Price in chemistry. Then you do all that's necessary for it. If you do not have an aim, I am affraid, the meaning will be hard to find. Babelina says that the search for the meaning can be an aim. I disagree: eg. life is a goulden key, go and try to find the door which you can open with it, do not become a keymaker, do not study keys...you have got one already, go for the door.
The only thing better than life is nonexistence, and you can be nonexistent as soon as you wish by merely ending your life or allowing it to end. edit: in spite of this, I still enjoy life, and happen to think it's pretty cool.
Very true! People are usually born with something but it's whether they choose to utilise it to it's full potential! Why? Pick one example of everyday life, and I can show you an interesting path (without being egoflamatory to myself!).

Usually I would agree with everyone else here but I'm up at 3:00am, stoned and depressed so ya life is fuck up. The truth is we are lucky animals (or unlucky) we got powerful brains, opposable thumbs and a lyrics, we spend our time conquering the world… but if you look at it we still think like animals, we are driven by animals instincts and emotions, people still blindly fuck and have kids like rabbits, we pretend we are superior and special when all we are is lucky, self-fish, greed, argent, talking monkeys!

You have to look at life in a different way.The more knowledge you have,the more deppresing things get,so dont get too deep into the wrong subjects,just let life take its ride,and let yourself catch up.Well,3 years ago,my wife left me for another man and took the kids,i lost my house,lost my mother and i was on the verge to of killing myself until i realized that i have alot to live for,and became a inventor.
Who the fuck cares what is the meaning of life? You're right. We're here, we fuck, and then we go to to that "mothership in the sky" or whatever the fuck you believe. So, shut the fuck up and live life to the fullest, because before you know it, it'll be gone. STOP BEING FUCKING SELFISH AND THINK ABOUT OTHERS. (Its not just the west, the east has its problems just in a different way) It's little wonder that amongst traditional indigenous people - the old world, pagan and 'fourth world' nations suicide and depression are LOW to non-existent in the population. Very few such examples exist except in africa and parts of south america. Take for example new zealand maori, austrailian aboriginals, native americans, canadian inuit... you name it. When all these cultures were introduced to western lifestyle suicide, depression, crime SOARED . The people who do the surposedly 'selfish' act might share DarkDice's thoughts. It apalls me that people call persons who commit sucide selfish. Sucicide is one desperate last cry for help. And all you can think about is how YOU feel about the person taking their own life. (ie i'm bitter, i've had a friend take his life some time ago, and it's basicly the fault of my group of friends for the way we treated him, but I'm the only one who acknowledges that). Hippocritical to the fatal extreme. Suicide is sometimes called social murder. DarkDice is right in what he says and implies that life for most is not much to look forward to and that we have nothing. But I do think DarkDice should shut the f--k up and stop EXPECTING life to be great and have meaning, and MAKE it. Get some hard drugs an have a life altering experience or something. Read some philosophical books or something. You need to get out of your depressed mental hole. All power to you bro. No offence to anyone.
