British health authority says two more people affected by poison that killed former Soviet spy

LONDON: Two more people have shown signs of low-level exposure to polonium-210, the rare radioactive isotope that killed former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, British health authorities said Wednesday.
The Health Protection Agency, or HPA, said the two individuals affected in London had not suffered enough exposure to cause illness in the short term, and the long-term risk was also very small.
The agency said a member of staff at the Best Western Hotel in Piccadilly, London, and a guest who visited The Pine Bar at London's Millennium Hotel had shown exposure to polonium 210.
A total of 12 people have tested positive for radioactivity. The other 10 to test positive for polonium are; eight members of staff at the Millennium Hotel, one member of staff at the Sheraton Hotel in Park Lane and Litvinenko's wife Marina.
Litvinenko, a Kremlin critic who lived in exile in London, died in a London hospital on Nov. 23 after suffering radiation poisoning. In a deathbed statement, he accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of ordering his murder, allegations which the Kremlin dismissed.
... British police say they are treating his death as murder and have conducted investigations in both London and Moscow. Around a dozen London sites have been tested for traces of the rare polonium-210.
A further 536 urine samples tested so far by the agency have found nothing of concern, the HPA said in a statement.
Detectives are still awaiting the results of the post mortem examination on Litvinenko's body.
Isn't this thread about Russia, Putin and poison? But BR finds a way to insert his tiresome and predictable Muslim bashing in here anyway.

lolz...
Tazmaniac 01-03-07, 09:24 PM I liked that guy Putin a few years back, I am so disappointed at him.

Putin does his job as a president much better than any other president, the country has grown econ. and life-based wise. He has been a great leader and he has proven that he is a great leader with the expelling of Yukos "oil giant with a political corrosive inside", recognition of the law and that actions taken against the violators such as past FSB member...and other figures that seem to have clusstered passionately in England away from Kremlin's reach not for long. And taking away rights from the Exxon Mobil on Sakhalin 2 project...a company that literaly trashed the whole Sakhalin with no regards to ecosystem (even if Exxon M did follow the ecosystem regulations...why would we need a foreign company to control our resources?)

There has been only one other Russian president.
Odin'Izm 01-04-07, 08:54 AM And he sucked.
On a general note, they already found the culprit to the poisoning, it was the academic litvinenko met. He supposedly worked with radioactive materials and so on. ill post a link in a bit, watching two and a half men rightnow.
There has been only one other Russian president.
Im talking about all other world presidents, not just Russian. And Gorbachev was a president too...so Putin is 3rd after Eltsin.
Gorbachev wasn't a president, he was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union,
Jeltsin was the first president of Russia.
Gorbachev wasn't a president of Russia, he was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
the things he did...dont qualify him as a secretary...he is dirt, you are right he never has been a president.
just dirt. http://www.mikhailgorbachev.org/
Nikelodeon 01-04-07, 11:46 AM Is Putin ever going to be voted out (if thats possible anymore?)
Is Putin ever going to be voted out (if thats possible anymore?)
voted out? what do you mean?
He refuses to go for 3rd tirm...because it is uncostitutional.
He is such a great man...but we must uphold the law above us. 2 terms per president only.
His second term in office will end in 2008.
The constitution of Russian Federation allows only two consecutive terms,
but because most Russians would love him to take up the third term,
an amendment of constitution is not to be ruled out.

well I agree w/ Putin and the fact that constitution should not be changed, thus Putin should go. Amendment of constitution is to be ruled out.
In politics you never rule anything out.

well yeah. its just a stance I am taking.

Seem you find a way to insert me into everything, this is the first post on this site. And yes I know it's about Russia, Putin, and poison, and it shows that Putins KGB past is still in play. The only access to that kind of Poison is through state sponsors.

the guy who died was a state sponsor, he was an FSB agent who went against constitution...he favored the now jailed Yukos president-politician-wannabe president.

In fact the Litvinenko was involved in many illegal operations and has ties to many cases: http://www.mosnews.com/news/2005/04/11/fsbhit.shtml
Buffalo Roam 01-04-07, 02:55 PM Yes I know that, but access to a nuclear isotope of that type only comes with State Involvement, and sponsorship, KGB or what ever it is now called and Presidential approval.

how dum does the country have to be to use polonium? Russia is great and powerful and in no way could have decide to use such an obvious finger-on-us element to kill. Berezovsky was the guy who had the resources to conduct such operation and guess what polonium traces were found in his apartment too...but no the media favors Russia as being the secret plotter behind this mess.

Berezovsky is supposevly Russian...but his origins are from Georgia and Turkey. He did not do it himself, he payed for the operation...the past FSB members helped him. (thats my theory)

guess why. Because its Berezovsky...were hes been and his accomplices. Arzamas-16 is where plutonium came from.

Do you think the US constition will be amended so President Bush can get a third term?
Let's be realistic people, yes it's possible, anything is possible, I actually thought that could happen in the US until the most recent elections proved otherwise.

I don't know why people want to pin the blame on an entire country. Individuals did this.

because media is controlled by individuals who did this and these individuals want to pin the blame on an entire country.

Yeah and thats as wrong as blaming an entire race for the actions of one individual, or blaming an entire culture.
Seriously, do you really think any of us will ever know what happened? If this were a secret operation, no one will ever know the truth, it will always be a mystery. So why do we even debate it?
The media will never figure it out, and it seems political, like a scandal moreso than an investigation. I can understand why people should be concerned about being poisoned, but I'm sure these sorts of things happen all the time, and the only reason this is getting attention is because it's some new nuclear type poisoning. I never heard of nuclear particles being used in this fashion but I'm not surprised that it can happen.

Because I am part of that country which is blamed by the media. And if this media without much brains and thought hyped-on-cash blames Russia...I have same right to blame this Berezovsky guy. And the reason media likes this so much is because people like me get hooked up on it and read that media....and cash flows...and thats all this is about. So yes I am a puppet.
