Getting Down To Action Part 2
Part 15 Of A Study In 2 Corinthians
I'd like to ask the question, "What if you fail?" Being humans, we can't be correct all of the time when we're getting down to action. Do we go searching for the points wherein we were right to, in some measure, weigh out the good against the bad? I think not. That doesn't wash for Heaven and that doesn't wash for Earth. Do we ignore our failures and just move on? No way! Y'aint gonna learn nuthn' that way. Do we become revisionists and re-examine the historical accuracy of the account of our failures? Nope, we're no spin doctors. Remember, we're supposed to be transparent. People should see the good and the bad. However, we should be trying to avoid the bad. Then, what do we do?
KJV
Book: Mark
Chapter: 9 ,Verses: 30-40
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.
35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
NLT
Book: Mark
Chapter: 9 ,Verses: 30-40
30 Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus tried to avoid all publicity
31 in order to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead."
32 But they didn't understand what he was saying, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.
33 After they arrived at Capernaum, Jesus and his disciples settled in the house where they would be staying. Jesus asked them, "What were you discussing out on the road?"
34 But they didn't answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.
35 He sat down and called the twelve disciples over to him. Then he said, "Anyone who wants to be the first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else."
36 Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them,
37 "Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes my Father who sent me."
38 John said to Jesus, "Teacher, we saw a man using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he isn't one of our group."
39 "Don't stop him!" Jesus said. "No one who performs miracles in my name will soon be able to speak evil of me.
40 Anyone who is not against us is for us.
I think Jesus clearly shows us that the imperfect can be taught. As always, God's more interested in our hearts because that will what comes out of us. I think what is also interesting is that, even though Jesus had to put John in his place, Christ never shunned him after this. Why? The imperfect can be taught. The hard hearted on the other hand, the Judas, the Pharaoh, they refuse to learn and bring themselves to ruin. So, this isn't a very long FNS this week. Just be willing to learn. Moving on is easy when you know you've learned something.
