Another French company bites the dust.... Just saw the news: Vivendi Universal unveiled losses of euro12.3 billion ($11.0 billion) in the first half of 2002, after writing off impaired goodwill to the tune of euro11 billion and making provisions of euro3.4 billion. Standard & Poor's downgraded Vivendi's credit rating to junk status; its shares fell sharply.
