I didn't think this belonged in Ethics and justice so I thought I'd post it in here.

Now we all know that frat boys can do dumb things. But I must say that this story takes the cake (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/South/12/25/raccoon.slaying.ap/index.html).

The men had spotted the raccoon behaving erratically outside the Phi Kappa Psi house at the University of Georgia on December 12. One hit it with construction pylon and shot it with a pellet gun in the fraternity's parking lot, Athens-Clarke County Animal Control officials said. Another skinned the raccoon, and a third cooked and ate some of its meat.
Now most people who see a raccoon behaving erratically would know that something was not all there (and no I don't mean the mental state of the raccoon) and would stay away. Not these 3 however. They thought an erratic raccoon would make a tasty treat. Now who in their right mind would kill a racoon which was not acting like a normal raccoon and then decide wooohooo dinner?

Has the fear of mad cow disease in the US driven stupid people to this? Did these individuals tell themselves that beef = bad so better eat the erratic raccoon instead?

Erratic behavior can be a symptom of rabies in an animal, but the raccoon could not be tested because its carcass was burned. At least one fraternity member was treated for possible exposure to rabies, which can be fatal if left untreated.
Mmmmm charcoal raccoon... you don't get that at Kentucky Fried. Finger lickin good with desert being a series of shots for rabies. Yummy!

The three members involved will go before the fraternity's grievance committee and face possible sanctions from reprimands to expulsion, said Larry Bales, fraternity president.

"It was a ridiculous situation -- an isolated incident," Bales said. "It was not a fraternity-sanctioned event."

So a sanctioned event would have been to kill and BBQ a normal behaving raccoon:confused:?

Their parents must be so proud.

Uhm.....

You've vested time and effort into a thread.
The thread alone is a hundred plus words long.
You've taken time to be humorous, sarcastic, and wry.
