A more pertinent question may be "Is there a science-fiction fan who hasn't heard of him?"
Frazetta was, and still is, one of the "big names" in fantasy art,

Bar none? Hmmm, [Luis] Royo, [Chris] Achilleos, PAJ [Peter Andrew Jones]... but Boris [Vallejo] is someone whose work does little for me.

And the requirement for this sort of art these days is what? There are so few fantasy novels that depend upon "mightily-thewed" heroes.
Karl Edward Wagner's Kane series was probably the last I read (a couple of months back) and even they were written last century.
Maybe if the publishers did a full-set re-print of ERB in paperback (or even KEW - I'm missing a couple of his books).

I'd rate Achilleos AND Royo at least as the equal or better of Frazetta as artists: he was essentially limited to the "barbarian" types (at least in his published work).
Achilleos and Royo have more flexibility and greater nuance.
Have I read Howard? My apologies, when I typed ERB (Edgar Rice Burroughs - I was thinking somehow of the John Carter series and got myself confused with authors) I should have written REH (Robert E. Howard).
Yes, I read most of the Conan series and some of the Cormac Mac Art books over 20 years ago.

    Achilleos

    Royo

Heh, if Xev were still here she'd be voting for Royo, no doubt.

    I'll take Royo over Achilleos

but in the end I'll take a Frank Frazetta painting first , although I have to admit some of Royo's paintings are quite good

Is Frazetta the one that does big butt/hip women?
    Don't forget H.R. Giger

I think that's Fernando Botero (who I love). His stuff is all over Madrid and Monaco.

Yeah, but it's a 12 year old's idea of what constitutes good drawing.
