I think Fraggle Rocker is pretty much indisputably the best poster here. Certainly the smartest and most knowledgable. Definately the best comprehension skills I have come across here. Lots of people argue against posts I make, but fraggle rocker actually understands what you're saying and then argues against it. And I confess that he has actually forced me to cower and hide and wait for threads to die. I can't say the same about anyone else here. Everyone else has just been wrong, unable to understand me, or in agreement. But FR has actually shown that he understood my point and then kicked my ass. I respect that immensely. I thought much lesser people have appreciation threads so it's only right the best poster has one. Lest he feels he is unappreciated and leaves.
Fraggle Rocker rocks, but he sure isn't made of stone! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
He should celebrate his greatness with an avatar. Congrats, Fraggle! Ye'r considered by the Doctor to be the best poster in SciForums. How does it make ya feel?
I always try to read Fraggle's posts, in whatever thread they may be. (This thread seems to be about Doc as much as it is about Fraggle.)

No, I honestly didn't. Someone told me about it in a thread I launched, only the second or third I've originated in three years here. Mostly I just meddle in your affairs. I am truly humbled. I thank you all so much for your kind words. As I said in my thread, I'm not a very gregarious person in the flesh, so I tend to live a lot of my life in cyberspace. I play go a lot and I participate in a few BBS's in my profession, IT. I really appreciate the friendships I have here. You folks are great. I have to stop because I'm speechless for once. Love you all, --F.R.
I'm an old mainframe jockey so I'm barely computer-literate in this millennium. If somebody can show me how to get one of the Fraggles for an avatar, I'll use it. ^_^ Coming from Lou, that's the highest compliment I can imagine. If I took his post about me and just reversed our names, that would be exactly what I think about him. Thanks again everybody. This is pretty sweet coming up on Thanksgiving. You've all given me something to be truly thankful for. It must have been meant to be, that I would only find out about this thread tonight. Synchronicity.
1. I'm compulsive about getting lots of practice. I write at work, I write letters to the editor, I post on a lot of BBS's, I volunteer to be the secretary in clubs and the scribe at meetings. 2. I study foreign languages. Knowing another language gives you the ability to look at your own from the outside. You start to see the grammar and syntax analytically instead of intuitively. 3. I edit and proofread other people's writing. Learning to spot other people's mistakes helps you learn to spot your own. Getting inside someone else's head and seeing how they use your own language gives you a new perspective on how you use it yourself. 4. I take every writing class that is offered at work. You never know it all. 5. I help other people with their writing, such as young people or people who are just learning English. Learning how to explain how you write things that you normally just put down intuitively helps you look at them more critically. 6. I married an English major. It's only been in the last few years that I've felt confident enough to write something important without giving it to her for an edit. The hardest thing for me to learn, and the last thing she managed to teach me, was how to make things shorter. As you can see, I still have trouble sticking to that principle. ^_^
Fraggle, you are one of the posters that makes this place worthwhile. While you generally don't stick to a thread for the long haul, you very often come in with at least one or two posts that are always insightful and very much on topic. Don't even think about leaving this forum. We need you. Keep writing.
Thanks for your kind remarks. I do find it difficult to keep up with the long threads. They often get personal, or veer off topic, or in some other way lose me so I have trouble relating and can't offer much. I think that's just the nature of BBS threads, I see it on other sites too. But don't worry about me leaving, I've found my Fraggle Rock here and I'll stay until the Gorgs run us off. ^_^
I thought I'd give this topic a little nudge and another shout out to Fraggle. Recently, it seems there's a thread on relationship problems in free thoughts every other week. Despite the tiresome nature of these threads, or all the sniping that can be done, and is done (lord knows I try), Fraggle consistently posts pertinent and exhaustive advice in a humble, thoughtful, gentle and hopeful manner. I mean, I could go on and on with adjectives describing how great this man is. But of all his qualities, I like Fraggle's perpetual hopefulness and sincerity best. They're a welcome relief to the bitter, caustic cynicism of this place.
Yes, Fraggle Rocks and gives excellent advice to the 'youngun's' on this forum and is usually right on! Cheers to you FragglePlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!!
