I've just suddenly gained an interest in this field but I'm not sure where to start with looking up for stuff to read. All I know is that CSI is really cool and I want to know about the procedures in post-mortems and DNA analysis.

Any links, info, ANYTHING you know please just dunk it in here.

Thanks in advance :)

Are you considering a career in forensics or just like it because of the magic way everything works just right in CSI on TV? Probably your local library has some books on forensics to start with though you may find them a little hard going. You could try some practical work in the style of Sherlock Holmes, using deductive reasoning in everyday life from everyday clues we all leave around us. That is the basis of forensics.

Actually much in RL forensics is following established protocols, subject samples to standard analytical techniques (if available) and write reports about it (at least according to a colleague that scored a job in that field).
Also note that in RL the failure rate as well as the time needed to actually perform experiments is (of course) very different from what TV shows may imply.
