Anyone know if I can use a flash animation as a desktop item - ie have a moving movie as wallpaper?

I'm not sure about a full blown animation, but I did once start creating a "Flashtop" with javascript used to run anchors from inside the flash with programs on the OS.

So it is possible to place it as the Internet wallpaper to windows OS, you just have to create a HTML file with the correct tags to run it.

I can't think of a single reason why that shouldn't work. . . yet at the same time I can easily imagine it not working. That's just the way Windows works.

Eventually I'd like desktop images to be very dynamic..like underwater, but very realistic looking. It's a good possibility.

THe only problem is that anything too 'flashy' would be nauseating.

It works! When I got home I tried it, my desktop is now 100 jars filled with 100 feti all with there little eye seeking… Eeeeeewwww.

    I’m running WinXP Pro
I used Easy GIF Animator 1.0 and Paint Shop Pro 4 or 7 (can’t remember which)

Hum think I'll make my self a real nice desktop animation now, also maybe its time I upgrade the fetus. thanks for the idea

Maybe I’m wrong but I think you’re using an animated GIF as wallpaper – Not Flash, Flash is a totally different application…

Animated GIFs can be used as active wallpaper, But My question was is it possible to intergrate a Flash Movie as a desktop item / Background…

I don't know why you could not use Flash as desktop as you can export a Flash animation in a html page (and you can use html as an active desktop). I will try to use it when I'll go back home...

    it worked!

I just tried that and it works! It DOES, however, use 100% of your CPU...right now, Im on a machine with an intel 2.2ghz and 256mb DDR....eek! It slowed my computer down quite a bit. If you do decide to use an animation as your desktop, pick a small one

I agree with korey, it works... and it needs some memory and CPU. I guess that we can do a better job with no animations (just an active desktop in Flash) but I will try it later.

So what's the news on this?

I've always wanted a desktop that merely had some kind of vibrating circular wave that just sat in the middle like a supposed display screen for a new HAL or something - you know?
