    I've read the book:

Which was pretty good. I generally like Robery Sawyer, he has interesting characters and some unique premises. My favorites are

in which aliens arrive at a museum in Canada in search of proof of the existence of God and

in which we make contact with a parallel earth where Neanderthal man survived and Homo Sapiens became extinct.

Anyway, in this TV series, as in the book, everyone's consciousness jumps ahead in time for a period of time while, back in the present, they black out. When they come to, they find a world in chaos. Imagine every person driving a car, or a plane, or operating dangerous equipment; blacking out for two minutes and all at the same time. Once they've dealt with the immediate consequences of the worldwide blackout, they must deal with their knowledge of the future. Many see disturbing things. Some saw nothing, does that mean they'll be dead in six months?

I'm curious to see what ABC does with this. Anyone else read the book? Going to watch the show? It premiers Sept 24.

It was pretty interesting. I dont watch alot of TV but this one caught my eye.
The premise is original for sure, and the pilot was well done. The one question I want to know, and may be the last thing they answer, is what caused it.

If it follows the book, I could tell you. But I'll hold off unless the show gets canceled before we get an answer.

I liked it all lot. I just hope they can keep it up and it's not one of those shows that starts out with a great premise and then it gets frilly and stupid like that tv show Nine.

Or like LOST. I loved it until it got old. Every episode they'd answer one question and bring up 10 more

I actually enjoyed the show more than I thought I would.

Alas, I gave up on Sawyer before reading this particular book of his...

Watched it. I liked the premise. I thought that the storyline was (and hopefully, will be) a good one. The acting was a bit stiff. I really like John Cho. Joseph Fiennes could get killed off and I wouldn't miss him.

Looking forward to seeing what it is all about.

Note: It just feels like an Abrams TV series! His name isn't mentioned in the credits, so I'm assuming it's a coincidence.

It certainly does have the 'Abrams feel' to it (whether that's a good or bad thing; IMO, he's hit and miss...). Note however that head writer is Brannon Braga, of note for writing/producing various Star Trek series...

I like the philosophical implications regarding destiny and free will. Were I in this situation, I would do whatever I could to make things that were seen in the vision not happen. Like the detective who is basically trying to recreate his vision at work, while trying to avoid it at home (his wife being with another man). How creepy was it when his daughter have him that bracelet? You can already see that the stress is going to drive him to drink which is going to break up his marriage.

Yeah. He's got a small role. Happy to see he's picked something serious to contrast his comedic background.

I've been watching it faithfully. The characters are engaging and the story is interesting. But it does seem like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Things are happening specifically because in the future people saw them happening and now they're diligently recreating them.

But at last we are getting a glimpse into the other side of the story, the people who caused the flash.

I guess it's going to be a one-season show because it all comes to a head in April 2010. They'd better not cancel it in the middle of the story like they did Day Break, Witchblade, Dark Angel, etc.

The latest episode, "The Gift" was one of the best one hours of TV I've seen in a long while. The ending was both sad and hopeful. I think it's brilliant how such a horrifying moment can presage such hope for the future.

Well put. It was good to see that free will still exists. Sad that it took the suicide of a good man to prove it.
