I think its funny that one week he requests $24 billion to help rebuild Iraq, the next week he attempts to veto a $23 billion plan to rebuild his own country.

In his veto message, Bush complained that Congress added about $8 billion in projects to the bill in conference committee after each house had passed its own version.

I wonder what projects are included in the 8 billion.

I appluad Bush for standing up against Pork and Fat attached to bills. It's a shame he didn't do so much earlier in his term.

In his veto message, Bush complained that Congress added about $8 billion in projects to the bill in committee after each house had passed its own version. "American taxpayers should not be asked to support a pork-barrel system of federal authorization and funding where a project's merit is an afterthought," he said.

"American taxpayers should not be asked to support a war that never needed to be declared," the taxpayers said.

I like the fact that Congress finally got their heads out of their asses and stepped up.
But then again, Congress has(had) the power to override previous vetoes concerning Iraq.

Stuff like the Everglades problem... I think Bush hates domestic spending on principle.

Well, I hope Congress finally starts doing shit like this to continue to keep him in check. It's about time he realizes he can't make shit up as he goes to suit his own agenda.
