In your opinion, are characters such as Yoda or Kiri-Kin-tha as legitimate as historical philosophers? Neither dead philosophers no fictional ones can debate their veiws. If Plato made up Socrates, would his arguments still be valid?

regarding yoda and the like, they are mass media reflections of watered down existing schools of thought.
Its interesting to note however that drama previously was the medium that bridged the gap between the intelligentsia and the common class - now of course academics appear to have lost all touch with reality while common people watch Mickey Mouse

No. George Lucas and Gene Roddenberry are the philosophers. Those characters did not come up with the ideas, those characters ARE the ideas.

Muad'dib and The God Emperor, from Dune, were rather philosophical.

John Galt from "Atlas Shrugged" spent 70 pages explaining his philosophy, aka, Rand's.

Socrates was partially fictional and appeared as a fictional character in a play.

The Matrix series has many philosophically inclined characters.

The aforementioned Yoda, Palpatine, and other Star Wars characters.

all philosophers are fictional because life is a form of fiction.
