Kelly Clarkson. Good lyrics, good music, great voice, good productions. I just saw her in concert last week and it was amazing. Great band, great backup singers, good pacing. One of the best concerts I've seen in the five years I've lived in the DC area with a lot of concerts available. No, she's not the Mars Volta or Gorillaz, both of whom I also love and would rush to buy tickets if they came to town. But it's possible to perform music that uses familiar motifs and techniques and doesn't stretch the limits of the art, and still be fabulous. The Klaxons? Not well known in the USA but somehow I found out about them and bought their CD. I like them.

I'll make it an even three... 1. Band of Horses Cease to Begin is a very impressive sophmore effort. 2. The Aliens Bringing sorely missed psychedia back to the arena of pop. 3. Battles loops, loops, loops
