View Full Version : Favourite Television Shows?
Prince_James 12-27-06, 07:53 PM Throughout your life, what has been your favourite television shows? American, European, Australian, or whatever? Let's keep it live action only, though. Animation deserves another thread eventually.
My single all time favourite television show is "Little House on the Prairie". I've seen every episode about...five times easily.
24. That's the only recent show I watch. Friggin' awesome!
I don't watch any shows on TV though cause I hate commercials and being limited to one episode a week, so I watch em on DVD instead. The other shows I like though are X-Files, Married With Children, Kung Fu, Mr. Bean, Seinfeld, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, and The Twilight Zone. The only animated is Dungeons & Dragons and Beavis and Butthead.
Also the occassional TV mini-series as well such as Shogun, Band of Brothers, V, Taken, and anything else I may be forgetting. I'm hooked on 24 at the moment tho. Bought all five seasons and have been finishing a whole season every 2-3 days. It has to be my favorite show of all time; so intense and it's like one long movie with the episodes all being linked to one another instead of being a bunch of random crap like most shows. I literally can watch 8 episodes in one sitting and it seems like it's only been an hour, it goes by that fast.

Scrubs... and Family Guy. Also the Daily Show. None of them regularly. maybe about 3-4 hours a week?

Getting 2hrs of Scrubs a day is heaven.

I agree. I can't wait for the new season to start! By the way, get Tivo, then you can fast forward thru commercials. Since I got it, watching regular TV drives me nuts.

Since I got it, watching regular TV drives me nuts.I like to do that with most shows, just using an old fashioned VCR. But with "24" it seems like you really want it to take an hour. The clock is supposed to match.
House
I download all the latest episodes from Usenet
Prince_James 12-28-06, 12:55 AM House is a fantastic show.

Well, I have a TV-tuner in my PC so I can choose to not record commercials, but it doesn't take care of the problem of being limited to watching only one episode a week.
With 24, I have to watch at least 4 episodes (about the length of a regular movie) in one sitting because it's that good. I'd much rather wait a whole year to get all the episodes to watch at once instead of having to be restricted to 4 episodes (or however many) per month, having the agony of waiting days to see what happens next episode. This is why I rarely watch TV, and when I do, it's the History Channel or news; programs that don't require dedication.
Thank god for DVD sets!

"Talk Sex with Sue Johansen"
"COPS"
"Dirty Jobs"
"Modern Marvels"
"Mythbusters", but only when they're blowing stuff up.
If you've never seen "Talk Sex with Sue Johansen", it's worth a look. People call in with sexual problems and questions and this older lady (who looks disturbingly like my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Stover) gives frank and honest answers and advice. The questions themselves can get interesting. One gay guy called in and wanted to know if there were any health risks involved in covering his boyfriend's balls in glitter. A girl wanted to know about putting Pop Rocks in her vagina. Somehow, the rumor got started that if a guy is cheating, his balls will hang lower. She takes on all this kind of thing and more. She'll promote sex books (I'm going to order "Tickle His Pickle" ;)) and sex toys taht she rates on a 1 to 4 flaming briquet scale. You guys have gotta see this show!

Comedy Central is key to my TV satisfaction. "Dexter" is fascinating-- its about a serial killer, employed by the police to help investigate murder scenes, who murders those murderers. What is fascinating is the nature of his obsession with slaughter, due to the haunting memory of witnessing his parent's slaughter as a toddler. You'll find yourself hooked, that is if you're not already.
I forgot to add MacGyver. :)

I've seen a few episodes of Heroes. If it's on, I watch it. Not too shabby.
