Completly original script. http://www.sciforums.com/images/icons/icon14.gif http://www.sciforums.com/images/icons/icon14.gif http://www.sciforums.com/images/icons/icon14.gif *stRgrL* 12-17-02, 03:49 PM I picked the wrong one!! I meant to vote for License to Kill. Only because my future husband Benny plays in it:D Avatar 12-17-02, 06:28 PM Diamonds Are Forever I have childhood memories of that movie. Have seen some 10ths of times had it on vhs Shadowstrife911 12-18-02, 03:41 PM Hmm, i've never heard of Casino Royale... ? Captain_Crunch 12-18-02, 04:13 PM Yes, two films on the poll are unofficial Bond movies. Never say never again & Casino Royale. Cassino Royale The only James Bond story for which Albert Broccoli never obtained the rights is Casino Royale. Those are held by Charles Feldman, who, following the success of Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger, decided that he wanted to make his own Bond film. After commissioning a script, he began casting. When attempts to "borrow" Sean Connery from Broccoli came to naught, Feldman decided on a radical change in tone. Instead of making Casino Royale a "straight" movie, he chose to attempt a parody. ... more... (http://http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/c/casino_royale.html) Starring Woody Allan. yes, its true. Never Say Never Again Kevin McClory, the producer and co-writer of Thunderball, won a legal battle to make his own Bond movie. The only stipulation was that it had to be based on the characters and situations of the original Thunderball. So, using Lorenzo Semple Jr. (Three Days of the Condor) as his screenwriter, McClory set about updating the story. The result, which has a hokey, jokey feel, is possibly the worst-written Bond script of all (barring the satirical mess called Casino Royale). However, McClory did score a major coup by getting Connery on board for the production. more... (http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/n/never_say.html) I would say this film is unwatchable, it is really bad. Its weird however seeing Sean Connery looking old in the role. It was on the tv the other night and it inspired me to start this thread/poll. *corrected inaccurate statement* Thor 12-18-02, 05:57 PM The living daylights for nostalgic reasons Pollux V 12-18-02, 06:06 PM Being uncultured when I was little, Goldeneye was the first one I saw, and the one that I enjoyed the most. EvelinaAnville 12-18-02, 09:29 PM My favorite is Octopussy because of the sets and costumes (yes, that is a very girlie reason:D ). I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond (as well as the Saint:) ) and only later in life have I acquired a taste for Sean Connery ;) Eve Cactus Jack 12-19-02, 08:37 PM I am a HUGE BOND FAN!!!!! I own everyone movie, most of the books and a soundtrakc cd. I picked Die Another day due to the fact that the action scenes really were phenomonal and it really accomplished what the las two bond movies attempted - modernize bond. However Golden Eye is another amazing Bond movie (as many are) and Pierce Brosnan really stays very true to the series. Live and let die, octopussy and the spy who loved me where all good outings for Roger Moore but (as outrageuos as this sounds) he really wasn't that great a Bond, you just kinda felt he was an actor playing Bond. And the immortal Connery: Dr. No just didn't have the formula down yet but we can forgive them, From Russia with Love is probably my favorite connery and from Bond girl to the mutiple villians which really are all cool in their own right it is an awesome movie, and what can be said about Goldfinger or Thunderball that hasn't allready been said? fantastic, you only live twice is another great Bond movie though I never thought he looked japanese when they made him up to be, and Diamonds are forever and Never say Never again weren't that great..... but still Bond never dissapoints as with the rest of the movies in the series: 007 Forever !!!! Captain_Crunch 12-20-02, 07:30 AM Im sorry Cactus Jack but i dont like the place that Bond is heading, i think if it keeps going the way its going just now; Its gonna end up like one of those Die Hard movies, lots of action with no depth to the storyline. I do like Peirce Brosnon as a Bond but i feel he is getting alittle too old now and feel that he has had some bad scripts. Didnt like the new one for many reasons, i couldnt put them anybetter than this quote: The need for action, action, and more action has reduced the plot to a minor footnote. Ditto for the characters – even Bond lacks his usual charisma. Brosnan's other 007 outings were admittedly cartoonish (that's the nature of the beast), but they were bright, lively, and vivid. Die Another Day has stick figures. The people are secondary to the stunts and pyrotechnics, which has never been the case before. It's disturbing to watch Die Another Day and realize that it's no better than any second-rate spy thriller, and even more disheartening to compare it to some of the great Bond movies of the past. The opening theme is dreadful. It's a Madonna pop tune, not a Bond song, and its lack of musical consistency strikes a dissonant chord. (And, as "payment" for providing such an awful piece of music, Madonna gets to "act" in a cameo, which, unfortunately, allows her to speak a few lines of dialogue.) David Arnold's score, which makes liberal use of the "James Bond Theme," seems okay, although most of it is drowned out by the explosions. moving on... All the Bond movies on DVD is £200!! If i could just afford it... :m: |
