I was just wondering what you people think the best game console is that's out there right now.

I have learned to hate games, because my boyfriend plays them ALL THE TIME, like he's obsessed, and when I bring this up he freaks out, completely in denial. What to do?

I wouldnt say the best but my favourite at this current moment for the enjoyment of the games and graphics is the Nintendo Gamecube. i also like the controller shape and the small size of the consol itself. Playstation 2 is ok for the good graphics but the games are different from the gamecube as they are more involved in a way, the nintendo has the more 'gamey' games - if that made any sense. The fact that the Gamecube is not DVD capable does not bother me because i buy a games console to play games not to watch dvds. Ive got a seperate DVD player anyway.

You're either going to have to find a way to work around the games or to live with them because I doubt you'll be able to get him to stop. Once a gamer, always a gamer. If it's really bugging you then dump him.

As for me, with Morrowind and Halo, I'm extremely satisfied with my xbox

I played Splinter Cell on a friend's Xbox and was very impressed; I asked "could a console have better graphics then a computer? He said yes, I said no. To test this I downloaded a pirated copy of the PC version of Splinter Cell on my computer (for free!) and play it, to my happiness I show my friend the quality of the PC version (on a Nvidia GF4 Ti 4600 graphic card at 1024x768 with Quincux AA, auto anisotropy, mipmaping at –3, Detonator Driver 41.09) He conceded.

 

PC would be "other"

Playstation 2 for me....PC does kick ass and any game on the geforce 4 ti4600 a 1280x1024 res is amazing with all the features pumped to maximum ability.

I perfer PCs when it comes to gaming. I hate the controls, it's hard to aim and I get impatient. I can't see how a lot of people play with Xboxes and other consoles.

 

I voted PS2 because I bought one for my son. On the rare occasion I play games I use my PC.

Game consoles are like PC's though, if you constantly wait for the best you end up never actually having one beacuse the best one is always due out next year.

So make your choice and stick with it, unless of course you own a Dreamcast, then just accept you made a mistake and go for a PS2 or X Box. I suspect that the game cube will go the same way as the Dreamcast and we will see the big 2 fight it out. . God don't you just love a competition

I agree I cannot play fps or 3ps without a mouse, CANNOT! I tryed playing Halo once on Xbox ha!

Just remember that the most technologically advanced is not necessarily the industry leader. Xbox and Gamecube are superior gaming platforms to the PS2 in graphics yet the PS2 is in the leader on sales!

 

You're right...too bad marketing gets in the way. It's cool to have something from Sony (ie Walkmans) and since all the rappers have Playstations and PS2's the kids should have one too. Buy something from Microsoft? Eww, computers are for geeks! Buy something called an X-Box?.....its a box......great. But buy something called Playstation, oh boy! I must have fun playing on a Playsation! Gamecube...gamecude gamecube gamecube, *sigh* ok it's another shape but at least you can 'game' on it. But it's purple! I can't be seen by my friends sniping a terrorist and sneaking around boobytraps on a purple 'cube'!!!

But people aren't that stupid...well I shouldn't speak too soon...they'll look at the stats and numbers and decide. The 'Box' has a 700mhz INTEL!!!! processors WOW! that's twice as fast as the 'Cube' and the Playstation no-name processors. The Box has a harddrive....it's a freaking computer for gods sake!! The Playstation has a measly amount of something called 'RAM'...pssssh...Harddrive sounds better and theres more of it. But it's still a huge BOX! There's no style with that...and it's from Microsoft...GEEKS! The Playstation is cooler, looks better, and is named for what it promises to do. It's something your play on, and that'll be fun.

I voted other b/c it's about marketing now, not getting making games for the gamer. Dreamcast was great and N64 is still fun as hell to play.

Sony are right bstrds for marketing PS2 in the way they have. I'm only bashing it for what it is, it does have some good games after all.

It's out dated technology but still more expensive than the x-box? Criminal!

I hope True Crime is as good or better than GTA III - Vice city. The moral of the fan-boys would be demolished!
