Racism really is all about "race," not culture. Racists believe that there's something in the genes (please don't ask me how they would have worded that a hundred years ago) that makes one race inherently superior to another. So it stands to reason that they wouldn't want any traces of that gene pool around to resurface in case descendants of mixed blood marry and the law of averages gives their progeny a huge assortment of "Jewish genes." They are certain that even if a person of Jewish ancestry has never heard of Judaism and Jewish culture, has never seen a Jew, and comes from a family that has been assimilated and intermarried with gentiles for ten generations, if his genes are relatively pure he will behave like his Jewish ancestors.

The Jews, on the other hand, believe it is 100 percent nurture and zero percent nature. They assume that "being Jewish" is something that's taught to children when they're very young and primarily in the care of their mothers. If you have a Jewish mother and a gentile father, you're Jewish. If it's the other way around, even though your genetic makeup is the same, you're not Jewish.

Exactly. And even that part is up to speculation among different sects of Judaism. Reform Judaism doesn't give one right shit if it's the mother, the father, or neither. If you want to be jewish, you can be jewish. It's the opposite when it comes to Conservative or Orthodox Judaism.
