View Full Version : Farscape Updates & News
CounslerCoffee 03-23-03, 02:15 PM Im posting Farscape Updates, and news. This way you can come here and read the lastest articles about farscape, the save farscape campaign, and what the cast is up to.
I think I'll start with this: http://starburstcards.com/KarlswebNewscape/Articles/FarscapeMemories.htm
The cast and crew pick their favorite Farscape moments.
If you have news, or interesting links, or just comments in general, then please post them here.
CounslerCoffee 03-24-03, 12:22 PM Farewell to a Phenomenon (http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-p2toptv3179819mar20,0,4916450.column?coll=ny%2Dnew s%2Dcolumnists)
It's the end, sad to say. "Farscape" airs its final original episode tomorrow night at 8 on Sci Fi, the cable channel that last fall announced it was terminating its commitment to a fifth and final season by cutting funds to the critically acclaimed show after its already- filmed fourth.
But this month also marks a beginning for one of TV's best dramas - not just best sci-fi, but best drama, period. Those of us obsessed with "Farscape," and those who've yet to discover its depth, can now live the thrills right from the amazing pilot hour as Sci Fi starts repeating the entire series, Monday night March 31 at midnight. All 88 episodes then air Sunday through Thursday nights at midnight.
CounslerCoffee 03-24-03, 12:27 PM http://www.inothernews.com has made a farscape comic strip!

Didn't you say you were gonna put crap...I mean stuff like this in the Farscape sticky you made?? It would make much more sense
CounslerCoffee 03-24-03, 03:20 PM Thor, that is my farewell to farscape thread. This is a news and update thread. After I unstick the Farewell thread, It'll sink quietly to the bottom. *Sniff* And this won't become a sticky. I'll post all information here, so really, it doesn't have to be a sticky because I'll post in it several times a week.
Pollux V 03-24-03, 07:13 PM I just hope we never run out of news.
CounslerCoffee 03-24-03, 11:27 PM We won't run out of news, Pollux. What with a possible movie, a farscape anime, the figures, the collectable cards, I think that I might review the DVDs here... All in all, I'll have plenty to put here.
How can you get news on something that you've already said farewell to? I mean huh!
CounslerCoffee 03-25-03, 10:50 AM The ratings for Farscape 4.22 (Bad Timing) are in:
8:00 Farscape: 1.4
9:00 Stargate SG-1: 1.8
10:00 Tracker: 1.2
11:00 Stargate SG-1: 1.2
12:00 Farscape: 1.0
Thor, I can report on it even though it's gone. Farscape is not dead, it's just not being renewed anymore.
CounslerCoffee 03-25-03, 10:55 AM There's an interview with Juliet Blake (Executive Producer of Farscape) over on the BBC website.
Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your involvement with Farscape?
I’m the President of Jim Henson Television here in America, and I was also one of the many executive producers on Farscape. I’m head of TV here, but also had responsibility for Farscape for the whole of the Henson company.

WTF, tracker did almost as good as farscape? And it was the series finale! Stupid Nelson familes!!
CounslerCoffee 03-26-03, 11:50 AM Farscape has been nominated in a whopping number of categories this year in the SFX Readers Awards! The show itself was nominated for Best SF/Fantasy TV Show. Both Claudia and Ben were nominated in the Best Actor/Actress and in the Sexiest Man/Woman categories. Claudia is also nominated in the "Who would you use as the basis for your Clone Army?" category.
The Sci-Fi Channel gets a nod for the Minority Report Award as the person who should be stopped for comitting future crimes, and the Farscape cancellation is listed under the "Worst thing to happen to SF and Fantasy in 2002" category.
Farscape Magazine also got a nomination as did the Farscape Companion book.

CounslerCoffee 03-29-03, 04:58 PM This guy has some hilarious reviews of the farscape episodes. Be sure that you have a sense of humour though.

CounslerCoffee 03-31-03, 03:55 PM http://starburstcards.com/KarlswebNewscape/Interview_GigiAndDad.htm
March 30, 2003 From the Herald Sun by Garry Williams:
MICHAEL Edgley's daughter is about to eclipse her father in the fame stakes.
Gigi Edgley, 25, makes her debut in The Secret Life Of Us next week, a role that could put her at the top of the celebrity circuit in Australia.
But the daughter of one of the nation's most high profile promoters is no stranger to fame.
She has earned a cult following in the United States with her role in the sci-fi series Farscape.
Although Farscape did not take off in Australia, despite being made in Sydney, it built up a massive following in the US and Britain - and Gigi's character, "space trollop" Chiana, was a fan favourite.
"I was at a US convention and saw a line that ran across the room and out the door," Gigi said. "I asked if Buffy the Vampire Slayer was here and I was told, 'No that's the line for you (to sign autographs), dear'.

CounslerCoffee 04-01-03, 03:40 PM FARSCAPE update, #2349.6: Confidential understands that Brascape – the latest campaign in which female fans of the axed cult show are sending their intimate garments to Sci-Fi Channel head Bonnie Hammer – is progressing well. More than 200 bras have hit Ms Hammer's desk.

CounslerCoffee 04-01-03, 03:43 PM March 31, 2003 From Cult Times:
So, unless something completely unexpected has happened between my writing this month's column and your reading it, it currently looks as if we've seen the last of Farscape. To borrow a phrase from another Sci-Fi classic, this has made a lot of people unhappy, and has generally been regarded as a bad move -but is it? And if it is, how has it been allowed to happen?
Certainly, the inevitable Internet-based campaign to save it has given short shrift to Sci-Fi's argument that the show 'failed to reach beyond its core audience', and we might pause to reflect for a moment on what exactly that might mean. The counter- argument might be that Sci-Fi—both the genre and the channel—is built for 'core audiences', or in other words, people who care about the television they watch and are prepared to make a commitment to it. We might ask how else it would be possible to produce and sell magazines about these shows, or indeed to devote a whole channel to them. Farscape, perhaps, is only guilty of being a particularly Sci-Fi sort of Sci-Fi show.

CounslerCoffee 04-02-03, 02:48 PM You gotta love the BBC. They have an awesome interview with Zhaan on their website.

CounslerCoffee 04-08-03, 01:28 PM Thanks to the BBC again! Another interview!

Counsler, I don't mean to sound rude, but does anyone actually care. This does seem like a wasted effort on your part. I genuinely try to seem interested and attempt to read some of these links but it looks as if I'm the only one. Just thought I'd bring this to your attention
CounslerCoffee 04-08-03, 11:54 PM Thor, if your the only one reading these articles, then fine. Even if this thread only gets one persons attention, I'll still post here. Or are you suggesting that I should just start a "SciFi Updates & News" thread?
I guess getting one persons attention is okay....but it's me! That's not so good, I mean me, come on, that's like having Bill Clinton turn up at your batchelor party!!
But a General News and Update thread might be more useful...
CounslerCoffee 04-09-03, 02:26 PM Thor, maybe I will. But I would ask you, and others, to contribute.
Neutrino_Albatross 04-10-03, 11:02 AM Im reading some of it.
Contribute I shall. Contribute I shall...
CounslerCoffee 04-10-03, 03:49 PM Okay, I guess that a "Scifi News" section is in order. Since Im creating one (And yall better contribute), I'll make it a sticky. This is the last update for this thread, I guess. It's about the farscape DVD's:
