Farscape is one of those rare shows that make us (The fans) happy. And although scifi channel has wrongfully canceled Farscape, it is not gone. Farscape will be back. I don't care if I have to frell Bonnie Hammer, I want my show back! This is my tribute to Farscape. I hope you enjoy. (Oh, and ad commentary, more quotes, your favorite eps, worsts eps, etc) So let's celebrate four frellin good years of scifi!
The Five Best Farscape Episodes:
5. Liars, Guns, and Money: Parts 1-3
4. Into The Lions Den: Parts 1-2
3. Terra Firma
2. Crackers Don't Matter
1. Won't Get Fooled Again
The Five Worst Farscape Episodes:
5. Taking The Stone
4. Home On The Remains
3. Taking The Stone (It was just awful)
2. Vitas Mortis
1. Picture If You Will
Interesting Farscape Facts:
-The original name of the show was supposed to be "Space Chase"
-Ben Browder has written two episodes (One entitled Green Eyed Monster in season 3 and one that aired in season 4)
- Claudia Black and Gigi Edgly (before being on Farscape) where both stars of the Aussie hit show "Sewer Rats"
-Lani Tupu (who plays Bailar Crais) is the voice of pilot.
-About 90% of the Crichton-isms are on-the-spot ad-libs.
Some of the Best Farscape Quotes:
"I usually try to save a life a day. Usually, it's my own." - John Critchton
(Moving to stand next to Aeryn):"One thing...just to be absolutely certain. You are the female of your species, right?" - John Critchton
(Singing): "Oh, there is no expanse of the mind, the will cannot traverse -- or physically, the distance laid across the universe. As blessings many in the stars save one lamented curse -- that Sixteenth Rygel, glory me! Must travel in reverse!" - Rygel
"My dear, I've kicked more ass than you've sat on." - Zhaan
(Pilot and John Talk to one another)
JOHN: Pilot, get a tractor beam on that shuttle.
PILOT: Tractor beam? What's that?
JOHN: Graviton shield, tracto ray, Super Glue, whatever you yanked me aboard with.
"I don't care what Aeryn says. You certainly look dead to me. I don't know your customs for these situations, not that I care. So I'll give you the Hynerian Ceremony of Passage. John Crichton, valued friend. Now wait a minute. Valued friend's a bit of a stretch. John Crichton, unwelcome shipmate. May you have safe transport to the hallowed realm. Actually, not our hallowed realm. That's for Hynerians. Go find your own hallowed realm. With the Ceremony of Passage completed, I declare you officially dead, and claim all your possessions for myself." - Rygel
AERYN: Don't you lie to me Crais. This is not about what Talyn wants. You have taught him everything he knows. This is about you, me and John.
JOHN (Black, when he got cloned): Talyn, I've been reviewing this situation. Aeryn's pretty pissed at me but she kinda likes me. Crais, well he hates me but he's not stupid. He knows if he kills me that Aeryn would do the math and his shot at domestic bliss would be cut off along with his balls. That leaves one suspect, open the door you soulless pig-headed, adolescent prick!
"Wierdness is a virtue." - Chiana
"Impossible is not in our vocabulary." - Terra Firma
Top Ten Farscape Moments (as listed by SciFi Magazine):
10. Last Supper A recurring theme has always been personality conflict. But at the end of "Through the Looking Glass" we are treated to a rare moment of warmth and friendship as the crew of Moya shares dinner. The first (And perhaps last) time that we see the crew together, happy and at ease.
9. As The World Burns Drifting in a low planetary orbit, stranded without a spacecraft (and only one spacesuit between them), John and D'Argo wait for the end while fire consumes the world beneath them in the cliffhanger "Family Ties"
8. It Must Be Love Trapped in a disabled shuttle and fast running out of air, John and Aeryn giv in to the unbridled passion for the first time in "The Flax" It's almost a shame they were rescued.
7. Ahmet, Ahmet Aeryn Sun dies, murdered by none other than John Crichton (Under the influence of a neural control chip). John is inconsolable as Zhaan performs a memorial service of uncommon beauty and spirituality in "Die, Me, Dichotomy"
6. Oh, Say, Can You See In "Liars, Guns, and Money Part 1: A Not So Simple Plan", Scorpius wounded and overheating, uses the neural chip to try to force John to replace his cooling rods, and John resists the only way he can --- by singing "The star-spangled Banner" at the top of his lungs as he staggers away.
5. Kind Of Blue No other death scene was more poignant, because no other was so final. In "Self-inflicted Wounds, Part 2: Wait for the Wheel", Zhaan goes gently--and bravely---into that good night, sacrificing herself to save Moya's life.
4. The Sacrifice Crais, the original villan, comes full circle in 'Into the Lion's Den, Part 2: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing". With the willing help of Moya's troubled child, Talyn and himself allow the rest of the crew to escape the Peacekeepers' clutches.
3. The Ultimate Hangover In "Scratch 'n' Sniff", John and D'Argo wake up after a night on the town with empty wallets, fuzzy memories and no pants. John's piercing shriek when he realizes that he has been sleeping in a public store window, wearing nothing but boxers and thigh-high stockings.
2. An Unexpected Amputation The crew turns on one of their own, hacking off one of Pilot's arms in the hopes of trading it for maps to their homeworlds in "DNA Mad Scientist". A shocking and desperate betrayal, for which no apologies are offered, that defined the series as being the anti-Star Trek.
1. The Death Of John Crichton For real. For good. It wasn't a dream, it wasn't a time-travel loop, and there were no handy resurrections. In "Infinite Possibilities, Part 2: Icarus Abides", John Crichton died. Of course, there were two of him, but Aeryn was in love with this one. (also, the wormhole knowledge had been unlocked, and Harvey was no longer in his brain)
