I'm sure there has been discussion's about the best rock band. But what about a fantasy rock band?(Mixing and matching members of different bands) Tell me who you think the best people are/were and why you think they are/were the best.
    I'll start:
Vocalist: David Draiman.(Disturbed)He has unique vocals that sound amazing.
Guitarist: Jimmi Hendrix.(The Hendrix Experience)He's THE best guitarist.
Bassist: Cliff Burton.(Metallica)He can do things with his bass that not very many others can. For proof listen to the song Anestesia(Pulling Teeth), the solo is 3-4 minutes long and is all him.
Drummer: Lars Ulrich.(Metallica)He can play fast and uses double bass pedals beautifully.

No fantasy I could dream up would be as wonderful as my favorite bands from the 1970s. The original lineup of:
    • Black Sabbath
    • Fairport Convention
    • Genesis
    • Led Zeppelin
    • Pink Floyd
    • Renaissance
    • Roxy Music
    • Tangerine Dream
    • UK
    • Yes
Not to mention many other bands who were able to produce one or two stunning prog-rock albums before descending into pop ditties:
    • Blue Oyster Cult
    • Camel
    • Gentle Giant
    • Jefferson Starship
    • Heart
    • Kansas
    • Jethro Tull
    • Nektar
    • Pretty Things
    • Shadowfax
    • Supertramp
Fortunately a few bands are still out there proving that this kind of music can still be made, such as King Crimson, Jean-Luc Ponty, Rush and Zappa's son Dweezil. Bless their rockin' and rollin' hearts.

I've heard of Janis Joplin but I can't remember.
Hendrix is the best so that's a no-brainer for lead.
    Santana is great as well.
    I haven't heard of Bonham.
    John Paul Jones is good.
    And I don't know Wakman.

Jim Morisson was a gifted guy. Why is it talented musicians die young? Here's a list to show some of the unfortunate few.
    Jimmi Hendrix
    Jim Morrison
I can't remember his name, but the original vocalist from AC/DC
    Bob Marley
    Cliff Burton
    Elvis Presley
And Kurt Cobain(although he killed himself it's still a death).

I wanted to pick him because I hate Rush, but I have a hard time ignoring Neil's skill
