China's First CPU Chip Developed
Four authoritative institutions Tuesday declared in a joint news briefing at Beijing Diaoyutai that China has succeeded in developing its first 32-bit CPU "Fangzhou-1" which is now available for batch production.

No, they <i>made</i> a CPU chip. Its really quite tricky, what with the glue-on sparkles and coloring inside the lines.

They've been making components for years, various circuit boards and such. But they lacked the capacity for such intricate work, without a major investment and such.

they can make quite many types of PCBs, the Taiwanese firms are moving there to cut cost, so technology is transfered to China soon....
