On Saturday a Sri Lankan man aboard an American Airlines flight bound for Miami, Fl from Paris attempted to set off a plastic explosive in the sole of his shoe. Al-qaeda has been known to use a similar method of sabatoge on planes. Maybe this was Bin Laden's latest, meger, attempt at striking America. Obviously nothing happened to the plane, which landed safley in Boston, with F-15 escort jets. Tom Ridge issued a security threat last week, apparently the threat was valid. We just dodged a major bullet. Interesting though, intelligence, and "improved" airport security (In France) didn't prevent this. Six men, two doctors, a smelly match, and a intelligent flight attendent did.

I don't think this guy is a complete dolt, he had plastic explosives. Either Semtex or C4, military grade which is extreamly hard to get alone. He attended the same mosque as Mussaoui, the 20th 9/11 hijacker who missed his flight for whatever reason. Supposidly this a-hole has ties to al-Qaeda. I think this may have been a quick attempt at putting fear into the American people. More of a followup attack to keep fear up, than a massive retalation or something. I think this was designed to buy time between 9/11 and whatever is next. If anything.
For a person, who is ready to throw away his life, there are unlimited ways to create havoc. It is practically impossible to prevent them. Next time, they have to do body cavity search and so on...the best solution is search and destroy the groups before they hatch (Like fire ants). Infiltrate the group and neutralize. Bring both Iraq and Iran to the civilized world. That alone could solve almost all problems. Politics and dialog can solve this (with Iran, - Iraq may need some serious military operation). Otherwise, we will have to live like this and get used to it as the cost of living - similar to we are used to so many dead in auto accidents every year.

Now they will try something new - like biological, chemical and nuclear warfare. Or something so simple that we have not thought of. My prediction is if the Palestine/ Israel problem is not solved , then nuclear incident is a real possibility in about 10 years.
