Cheney got our domain name wrong -- calling us "FactCheck.com" -- and wrongly implied that we had rebutted allegations Edwards was making about what Cheney had done as chief executive officer of Halliburton.

In fact, we did post an article pointing out that Cheney hasn't profited personally while in office from Halliburton's Iraq contracts, as falsely implied by a Kerry TV ad. But Edwards was talking about Cheney's responsibility for earlier Halliburton troubles. And in fact, Edwards was mostly right.

Oops, quiet a gaff on Cheney's part. This, after he directed viewers of the Vice Presidential debate to look at "Factcheck.com" for proof that he was not an Evil CEO. Having had only 30 seconds to respond to the allegations, I suppose he just thought it would be better to throw up a smoke screen of his own, one that sounds pretty official. Like endnotes in a book, no one ever really follows this stuff up, and aparently he didn't bother too either.

Well, the people who support him are generally not the types of folks to do research (or even *read* unless forced to generally) - so I'm sure he knows well that if he just puts up a strong front "No, you are WRONG - and the facts are right here" that his supporters will generally just go "damn right, he showed you up! Heh heh heh!" and thats it. And any of his supporters who DO look it up will just give him the benefit of the doubt and figure it was a mistake or somehow part of a ''liberal conspiracy".

In general, nobody changes their mind anymore - and he knows this.
