    FAQ
Hopefully I can deal with a few issues in this one thread, Computer related problems constantly come and go, and quite often they get repeated alot.

So I have created this Sticky FAQ to try and deal with the main questions that get asked over and over again, this will hopefully limit the amount of posts that end up getting lost in the database, and help people get to the information a little bit faster (Since some of the questions are already answered).

    Please note:
This thread isn't for asking questions unless your answering them, if you have a genuine question then either find the relevant thread on that topic or start a new one.

what program can I use to deal with Adware?
Since adware/spyware/trojanware/hijackerware is commonplace among some of the sites on the internet, it's sometimes a problem identifying what program you might want to get hold of to help deal with some of these programs finding their way onto your computer.

From THIS thread and others like it a few programs have been mentioned.

    Spybot Search and Destroy
    http://spybot.safer-networking.de/

    Ad-Aware
    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

    Hijackthis!
    http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

    There is also Spyblaster
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
However with Spyblaster it doesn't remove Adware/Spyware, it's attempts to stop them getting to the point of loading on your system by blocking out particular registry keys. (It can conflict with older than v.6.0.0.0 Macromedia .swf Flash files )

Which p2p (peer network) should I use?
Firstly, it's illegal to use Peer to Peer networks to share copyrighted material and those laws can be stricter in one country more than another.

it's also nearly illegal to use any P2P client other than Acquisition which also means you have to buy a i-MAC
(Okay this is an advert for Acquisition more than MAC).

However if you want to break the rules you could do it by:

    Emule (Edonkey network)
    http://www.emule-project.net

    Kazaa: adware/spyware addition (Kazaa network)
    http://www.kazaa.com

Morpheus (Kazaa, iMesh, eDonkey, Gnutella, Limewire, and G2)
    http://www.morpheus.com/

    Imesh (Imesh network)
    http://www.imesh.com/

    Shareaza (Edonkey & Gnutella Networks)
    http://www.shareaza.com

    OneMX (Edonkey network)
    http://www.onemx.com

    Soulseek (?? network)
    http://www.slsknet.org/

    Warez (?? network)
    http://www.warez.com/

Bittorrent (Doesn't have a network at URL)
    http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/
    http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

[Edit: 08/11/06 ~ Removed Dead links]

IRC (Internet relay Chat) also has some file sharing.

How do I become a hacker?
Firstly the real meaning of a hacker is someone that has the ability to alter somebody elses source code to add new features or tweak the program once it's compiled.

This doesn't mean your a hacker if you gain access to someones computer illegally through an already publicised design flaw in the software you are using, data theft to buy things online or can write in "L33t2p34k".

If you want to learn how to do the first definition of "hack", then learn how to program (look for books and websites on particular programming languages like Visual Basic, Java, Perl, Php, C++ and Python)

Notoriously the alt.2600 newsgroups can be a haven for information and large wadules of spam.

If you want to learn how to break into bank accounts, then you should really be thinking of your court defense far in advance of participating in crime.

    "Crime does not pay"
