    I would have suspected that all the fat Americans would be making the earth tilt towards them, not the fit and trim Asian population.

    Oh wait! I took another look and it is America that's weighing the earth down. :bugeye:

    Very interesting, (Q).

    Let me make a guess here. The higher portions in the picture represent the area of lighter massed material. Heavier material, being more dense has greater gravity.

    While I hadn't thought of it, I guess it makes sense. You can not find metal containing ores just everywhere. I wonder what the more dense masses consist of?

    I think I get it now. Wet1, your explaination does make a lot of sense.

    Maybe its just the density of the crust? I've noticed it collapses more in the Pacific region where the crust is thinnest

    Just a thought
