For me, sci-forums isn't about fun and games. It's comical at times but I wouldn't be here if I wasn't getting anything out of it. I'm trying to learn, and improve. All members of this forum should go through an evaluation , there is nothing close to 3rd party evaluation when it comes to improvement. I'm not looking for praise. Just starting a topic, with the hope that people will talk about me is not the point.

Rather, the point is that a social situation like this one, puts you in a position of risk. There is the risk that everyone will disagree with you and call you an idiot. This risk, puny and disgraceful as it is to me, is a practical push for improvement.

I don't post much, but please tell me any problems you have with me. I want to look into them.

"...learn and improve"??? If you're trying to learn from this place, then I feel damned sorry for you!! This is the most overly liberal, overly biased place on the fuckin' planet.

The only thing you're going to learn here is the age-old adage, "I'm right, and anyone who disagrees is wrong!"

Your name makes me think of torpedoes and the underwater "ping" sound you hear in all the submarine movies........but I think that's a good thing.

Learning does not equal imitation. Put a man in a room with a hamper for 20 years and he will learn all about hampers without becoming one.

Forgive me, but this is absolutely strange. If you are truly interested in evaluating yourself, why not start by being brutally honest concerning a personal inventory?

How in the world can anyone here offer reliable perspective without a clear picture of what it is they are being asked to feedback on?

Tell us about yourself. There are no mind readers here among us.

What part of yourself are you attempting to evaluate?

I don't expect you to read my mind. I request that you to read my words, (form a judgment on me), and briefly and explicitly state it.

I don't really need reliability. Anything you have to say about me I value. I'm asking for feedback on myself, perhaps you would describe me as stubborn, or perhaps you have formed an identity of me as a 16 year old pizza delivery boy. Both are valuable perspectives.

To paint a clear picture, say anything about me that comes to your mind, any intuitive feelings you have, type whatever comes to mind without pause. If you feel you don't know me well enough to form any type of judgment and explicate it, I'm not going to pull your arm.

I started getting more serious about chess, because of the feedback. Without feedback I might as well be a crazy man, feedback keeps me sane.

But I see where you are coming from - to offer specific questions, makes the task of answering easier. So if I must, tell me if I am being rational, if I am making sense or conveying my meaning clearly. Tell me if it's boring to read what I write.

I'm assuming that you must be talking about your opinions, posts, arguments, ideas, thoughts, and advice in general. You haven't given anyone much to go on in this post.

My idea on you from this post is that you welcome constructive criticism when engaging in a topic that allows you to express arguments or opinions. I think that is admirable. You seem to be saying that you respect constructive criticism as a way to further or better yourself as a person which is a good thing.

    Hope that is helpful

emboldened above: "ease" has nothing to do with this. Quality and accuracy does. Because I respect you, I'm not going to waste your time with gibberish.

The title of your thread is simply Evaluation. In order for anything/person/place to be "evaluated", the focus of your desired evaluation needs to be both accessible and discernible. Snap judgments based on compelled first impressions are not going to yield anything of value. More data please.

Let me please help you to focus more directly:

What specific area of your personal makeup are you hoping to improve most?

First impressions are indeed valuable to me.

Tell me how rational I am being. If my words are linked logically, or if I'm making some hidden errors in my thinking. I remember when Fraggle and another poster corrected my grammar I was awed by the mistakes I made.

form a snap judgment of me. who do you think is sitting behind this computer typing? That would be really interesting. How logically coherent are my words? Is my writing like walking through a foggy swamp or more like a clear morning.
