I know I'm not the only one listening to NPR here. So I'll make this short. What is it about these radio stations that suck people in? I have come to realize that all my radios are automatically set on NPR. My car radio, winamp, and the radio in my room are all set on my local NPR station.

When people get into my car and hear "The Splendid Table" playing, they wonder what the hell is wrong with me. So I like a radio cooking show! There's nothing wrong with that, right?

I used to listen to just Glenn Beck and Zerk Ziegler. But this radio thing has just pulled me in. I'm almost off of TV completely.

Don't get me start on The Radio Reader (Which is on when I'm on my way home from work). Now that’s a damn show! Is this happening to anybody else?

No, but I'd kill to lay off the TV and the computer to listen to just radio. I think there used to be a small segment on one of the local stations that at times broadcasted a bit of NPR and they also would play electronic music when the NPR signal was off, but that was like 6 years ago :(

I like it when they play Jazz on NPR, there's some pretty good songs but I'm all for 1920's style Blues and not too much on modern Jazz bands. I'll make a separate thread for suggestions on modern jazz musicians...someday.

I listen to NPR are work all the time. They're lack of sensationalism and alternative news is very refreshing from the likes of Faux News and CNN.

What has me hooked is a program called The Book Reader. This program is just a guy reading a book (Not the whole book, just excerpts). Sometimes they have on authors. Other than that, it's just a guy reading a book. I enjoy being read to by a guy on the radio. Isn't that insane?

The news. That's where they get me as well. It is refreshing. No more NEWS ALERT! Just the news.

Did you ever hear Terry Gross interview Gene Simmons. That was priceless. Actually, if it wasn't NPR, it'd be worth lot$.
