I had jokingly, in another thread, suggested the name "necronyms" for netspeak shorthand (net acronyms). And then it occurred to me to look and see what we had in the encyclopedia on the subject of netspeak and netiquette. Currently, the "[enc]acronym[/enc]" entry is respectable, and probably ought not be polluted with a bazillion shorthand inventions.

Thus I call on my fellow members, especially those who pay better attention to such things than I do, to pony up their lists of netiquette rules, both common and obscure, and also shorthand acronyms.

It would be helpful, of course, if there was some organization about it, but I'll leave that to each poster.

But, to start off, I'll throw in a well-known example.

When we have something substantial, we can start building the article. Anyone? Anyone?

    Netiquette:

Block capitals - Block capital letters are generally regarded as a written form of shouting. The general consensus is that block capitals should be used sparingly, as many people resent being shouted at regarding mundane issues.

It's, like, empty? Did you mean [enc]Acronym[/enc]?
