Emblem of India: Why power, courage, pride and confidence?

    Why were power, courage, pride and confidence chosen to be represented on the emblem of India?

    Is this how Indians think and feel about themselves- that they are powerful, courageous, proud and confident?

    Its not chosen as much as adopted. The original concept is Ashoka's.
