Answer the poll and then post the WHY here.

If we attaq Iraq without the U.N's consent, will military action against the US be the answer or will the U.N let us do what we want to do?

I'd have to say...unsure. An invasion of the US...by other world powers, our allies, is almost unthinkable, and over a country that is very small and weak, but ironically the center of the entire question. Bush seems to be adhering to what the U.N has declared (but secretly I bet he's seething with rage, since everyone on that entire panel hates him), but can he wait the weeks and months that it'll take for them to make a decision to support him?

The UN will bend over and take whatever the USA gives it. UNSCOM is based in Ne wYork. The World Band and IMF are based in Washington. The USA has veto over UN decisions when it wants to. It's all a big joke. And they stole my socks.

I dont see why Bush is pressing for war, it can't lead to anything good. I think the U.N. will at first let Bush do what he wants, and then later they (the U.N.) might change their minds.

The UN is not going to attack us, the united nations is not the leader of the world. Remember there are many other powerful groups like NATO and the EU. It is not the UN's business what we do. They would only attack us if they felt we were a threat. We are not "under their wim"

Bush is just going to them to get the support of European contries to fight the war as well (if the UN says no, we might not get tanks and bombers from England, that's the only consiquence, no support from other countries, we would have to fight it alone, meaning we might have to deploy alot of troops and likely loose a decent number of american soldiers lives, Iraq has no small army and arsenal to defend itself).

The only other reason Bush went to the UN was, so he wouldn't take as much civilian heat and political criticisim if he does attack Iraq, after proving he tried to solve it peacefully by requesting the weapons inspectors go back in, and asking for council from the UN first and making his case, even if he attacks Iraq anyway and the UN won't support him.
