Hey guys...and girls,

Anyone know what the Electron Configuration Notation does for isotopes? O know how the ECN works i am just curious as to how it affects isotopes.

Let me know

remember, electron configuration for neutral atoms is based on the number of protons (ie there is always the same number of electrons as protons). isotopes differ only in the number of neutrons, therefore the electron configuration does not change. for example bromine 79 and bromine 81 have the same number of electrons and the same electron configuration.

AHHH, ok that makes sense.

Thanks,
