MacM 11-13-03, 03:05 PM http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2988647.stm everneo 11-13-03, 03:42 PM They were way ahead of their times and that appears odd for others & it is easy to dub them as ecentrics. :D AndersHermansson 11-13-03, 03:56 PM Maybe they just weren't so social. ProCop 11-13-03, 04:41 PM I read a book about the university of Gottingen in 1920 -1930, I cannot recall the name but a student was walking down the street deep in thougts then he stumbled and fell into a pool of water on the pavement. Some passers by were worried because he went on moving his legs slighty as if walking but didn't attemp to stand up. They rushed to him and started to rise him from the water but he got very angry, shouting "oh how can you dare to disturb me...can't you see I am working?" The author put this in the book to illustrate how it was when new physics was born...pitty, I cannot recall the name or author of the book, but somebody else who also red it might.. be that the case, please post it. 1100f 11-13-03, 04:47 PM Originally posted by ProCop I read a book about the university of Gottingen in 1920 -1930, I cannot recall the name but a student was walking down the street deep in thougts then he stumbled and fell into a pool of water on the pavement. The moral of this story is that sometimes it can be very difficult to work when people go on disturbing you all the time MacM 11-13-03, 06:19 PM To clarify my posting this. It was not intended in any way to be demeaning. We just learned today that our young grandson(18 months) "May" be autistic and in searching for information about that condition I ran across this article. Frankly it should be an encouragement to others that may also be faced with this in their family. 1100f 11-13-03, 07:35 PM Originally posted by MacM To clarify my posting this. With the hope that has few as possible should face this in their family and also the hope that for your family it is a false alarm and that as soon as possible "may be" will be "is not" MacM 11-13-03, 10:48 PM 1100f, With the hope that has few as possible should face this in their family and also the hope that for your family it is a false alarm and that as soon as possible "may be" will be "is not" Thank you so very much for that. I know that every parent and grandparent would say the same thing about their siblings but he is the cutest little guy and we just hope that he doesn't have a hard life ahead. He isn't trying to speak and has trouble balancing. They are going to operate on both ears later this month. We are hopeful that will take care of his problem. The autistic issue was first raised at a doctors appointment this morning. curioucity 11-16-03, 08:21 PM Nice fact..... maybe their eccentricity was also triggered by public's incapability of accepting their theories? |
