I was just wondering, if i edit a post does it show up as new? or how do people know i edited it...instead of makiung new post, so my edit is not missed. Thank You, John
No they don't show up as new, they keep the same position as they had when they are first made although they have the Edited timestamp. Most of the time even if you go back and edit your post, someone in the meantime has posted a response anyway, so you are best just creating an extra post and either leaving it to a mod or editing it yourself in the future to delete one post and compile the two together.
I get a message at the bottom of the post saying you edited it at a particular time. I'm not sure if that only applies to moderators, though...
I'm guessing John meant that when he edits a post does the newly edited version of a post thats "No longer new" get reclassed as a new post or not? Which is simply a No.
Usually, after you edit and re-submit there will be an "Last Edited By So-And-So at whatever time" stamp automatically showing at the bottom of the post in grey - however, this tends to depend on how quickly you make your changes with regards to when you posted. If you're still logged in and haven't ended your session here in the meantime, the system doesn't bother marking the edit.
How's this for editing?
Last edited by Absane : 09-29-06 at 11:00 PM. Reason: Two

Last edited by Absane : 09-29-06 at 11:01 PM. Reason: One

Yes, that's what I was asking, I figured it would not be listed in new post's where other would see that a change was made but figured i would ask.

Last edited by Mr Anonymous (Whom is as a God) : Today at Today at 01:45 AM, 1879. Reason: Because it isn't an edit marker - Absane viewed the thread in Source View, copied and pasted the mark-up which governs the look and style of an edit marker and them simply inserted his own words at the appropriate points...
