James R, I am sure you are familiar with the strange activity of certain animals that precede earthquakes. What is your gut oipnion on this?

There's obviously a physical mechanism behind it. Maybe they detect subtle movement of plate tectonics before we can notice anything.

 

Isnt there leads to do with gas release, temperature changes in the fault area and other such things that scientists are investigating?

i note there has been no mention of the energy of the earthquakes. I have a friend in Los Angeles who has yet to mention any quakes in January, so, if there have been any on these dates, they were too small for a human to notice.

 

I was asleep during an earthquake, a peice of glass from my sky light fell out and went through my leg.. thats when i woke up.

 

I have heard theories that the piezoelectric effect (as in when a quartz crystal is squeezed it produces an electric field) may occur due to the stresses in the rock just prior to an earthquake and be strong enough for animals to detect .

 

well, you missed the Iran one two days ago.

Though I'd bet that the Iran predictions you did make will be right, mainly because they tend to have a minor earthquake every day of the year.
