View Full Version : Earth Day founder is a murderer
I found this out yesterday and thought it was incredible.

If you ask me it kind of taints Earth Day and really isnt it kind of dumb concept anyway?
spidergoat 04-23-08, 12:40 PM Who needs the Earth anyway? It's stealing our oxygen!
Dumb concept ? Are you on crack ?
um NO. I am just saying that isn't every day Earth day anyway. And what are you doing celebrating Earth on Earth Day?
So you knew that the founder was a convicted murderer?

If you put it that way.. what about all the other 'days' ? The point of these 'days' is to remind people of the importance of whatever subject the day has.
I didn't know that he was a murderer, I didn't even know who founded Earth Day and frankly I don't care.
Hey, nobody's perfect...
Yeah but that is a very big flaw.

But come on who doesnt know how important the Earth is and what has changed since it started? I hate to be cynical but one day dedicated to acknowledging the planet wont make any difference.
spidergoat 04-23-08, 01:15 PM Firstly, he is said to have contributed to the foundation of Earth Day, an assumption which is questioned. Secondly, although it was a good idea, the fact that he may have murdered an ex-girlfriend has nothing to do with it. Some bitches can just drive you crazy.
Your might be right about that but i was talking to someone who was around at the time it started who told me it was his idea. He could have been wrong though. It is still an interesting story.

But the truth is...
The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969. A second Earth Day, which was founded by U.S. politician Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in the late 1960s, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22.

So that puts an end to your idea that Einhorn developed it but he did participate in the celebration as did millions of others.:)
Syzygys 04-23-08, 02:25 PM To the OP:
So what? Consider this:
The ceremonial relaying of the Olympic Flame from Olympia to the site of an Olympic Games, first performed at the 1936 Berlin Games
Just because the nazis invented it, that doesn't mean it is a bad thing...Bad people can have good inventions....
But come on who doesnt know how important the Earth is?
You don't want to know, trust me..
could be wrong then, sorry. my friend otto told this to me yesterday and he is pretty old hippy who was in the area around that time but he drinks a lot too so maybe he got mixed up.
if it turns out to be false perhaps the moderator can change it to ...is NOT a murderer. Thanks and it was honest mistake, if it turns out to be not true. I just thought i was sharing something interesting.

Don't worry about it. I apologize for my earlier remark about crack.
no big deal, actually i heard it on the radio. the truth is probably somewhere in between.
Pronatalist 04-26-08, 02:07 AM Actually it's not so surprising. How many people are dying, in the name of earth worship and "environmental" extremism? When you take a look at the people who dream up such things destructive to man, should it really be so surprising to find out that they themselves aren't so moral? If they were moral, they would have thought through better, not to unleash such destructive immoral philosophies, movements, or whatever.
I say it's not a coincidence, but linked and similar.
