I guess this go heres. i got bored and happened to have my hands on a good bit of dry ice and thought I would play a joke on my grandmother (its cool, she dont care) I was wondering if I was to break up this dry ice and chunk it in the pool so it would bubble and look cool and junk but freak her out, would it react with the chlorine in the pool and make some bad stuff.

Thanks

Shouldn't.... the stuff will almost immediately turn to gas and bubble out. Your pool doesn't create poisonous gas if you blow air through it... this is no different. (Unless something in your pool acts badly at low temeperatures... but can't imagine what)

Well, if you put too much in and stand with your face in the bubbles you'll probably pass out, fall in, and drown... but I guess that would freak your grandmother out too:)

I say this so you don't do it inside with alot of dry ice.

Well I know enough not to do it inside and fill my house with CO2. That probably wont end nice.

Ha! Funny story actually. My grandfather told me to take the ice out of the cooler so without paying attention I grabbed it bared handed. OW! Holy crap, it burned so bad. It was stupid on my part. I didn't realized it was dry ice.

We put dry ice in the toilets at school a couple of years ago. Someone actually pulled the fire alarm and three fully loaded fire trucks arrived. :D

I was thinking about doing that at work, but I work for the feds, so I decided being shot as a terrorist wouldn't be very funny and didn't do it.

I never thought about putting it in the toilet. That would be even better.

You should fill a 2L plastic soda bottle with dry ice and then add water (2:1). When you close the lid, the bottle will fill with gas and swell to sphere before exploding. It will produce an unbelievably loud sound-- the police showed up after a friend and I did it. They said there were over 20 reports that a bomb had exploded (and it was in a very sparse neighborhood). Great fun!

Whatever you do, do NOT mix dry ice & water inside a closed glass bottle...

I thought about doing that but I didnt have any empty bottles lying around... although I did have a styrofoam cooler in which I put dry ice in water in and duct taped it shut. Took me forever to clean up the styrofoam.
