I have used electric drums before, and they sound pretty good.

You can hook them up to the computer and record from them and use different sound packs.

Also good because you can put in your earphones and the only noise anyone else hears is tapping.

I've toyed with the idea of getting one of those, as I dabbled with playing drums previously.

On sound, they sound pretty good, you can choose different drum kits, cymbals etc. Easier to take to gigs too!

she has been learning the drums for about a year now and she loves them,

if they sound ok then i'm happy

I have both an acoustic set which I use when the neighbours are out, and drum machine which I use for recording stuff.

I have a similar set, although I'm not a drummer. It probably won't sound anything like your acoustic set, but the onboard sounds will help teach your daughter to play "percussion" as opposed to just drums. As well, there should be a number of onboard songs, or portions of songs in which a variety of drum styles are there to learn, almost eliminating the need for a teacher. I've learned more in a couple of months than most do taking lessons. Good buy.
