Did anyone see this? It was called The Eleventh Hour and was on BBC America this weekend. It was the first episode featuring Matt Smith as the doctor: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And Karen Gillan as his new companion: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image![/CENTER]
Fuck yeah I watched and a grade a episode. I like how they paid homage to the shows history with this episode.
Watch out for the "crack" in the wall. I watched it and wasn't that impressed with the story line but the acting was OK.
Question, re: clouds in the time vortex. Is that a literalistic depiction of actual clouds of fermionic matter in the time vortex, or some visual metaphor for flying? If the former, is that the condensed remains of the Cybermen dreadnought-class ship from London, circa 1 AM, December 25, 1851? If the latter, why does God need a starship -- I mean why does a CGI-heavy TV series need a metaphor for flying? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
No, I meant about the crack in the universe. Crossing dimensions is easy, but universes, not so much.
Well, even the little girl knew that there was a crack. So knowing of the existence of the crack was no great feat. However, prisoner Zero did claim knowledge of its origin that has yet to be explained. Based upon Zero's ironic tone, I'd imagine the doctor himself to be somehow responsible.
Because he forgot to feather the clutch when tossing Gallifrey back into the Time War, and or didn't use snow tires when towing the Earth out of the Medusa Cascade. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
The alien seemed to pose a somewhat vague threat to me. It didn't kill anyone, that I can recall...it just hid in its secret room and occasionally wandered the village looking like a coma patient. Scary! It threatened people, but it never made good.
Perhaps it was lying low because it was "on the lamb". It might be that taking more aggressive action would have given away its location.
Whatever the reason, the monster didn't seem like much of a threat to me. But okay, now the second episode had a new non-monstrous monster. Plus the weeping angels also didn't really kill you. What the Hell is Moffat's problem? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Thank heavens next week is a Dalek episode (I assume) as at least they know how to kill people.
The weeping angels never did really kill you -- you just got translocated involuntarily to a time and place where you just have the slimmest chance of being able to interact again with your former acquaintances. Now how this is not paradox spawning, I don't know, but it's not technically murder.
What year did last night's episode take place in? 2900 or something? Is the destruction of the earth in 2600 from a solar flare (or whatever) consistent with previous episodes? I seem to recall a previous doctor (maybe it was even the last guy) saying that the earth lasted until the sun became a red giant and expanded and that humans then created "new earth". I think this was the episode with the giant head (the face of Bo?). I believe the doctor described it as sending you back in time and you then lived yourself to death. The weeping angels then somehow fed upon the energy released by sending you back in time, which would suggest that there is some potential energy associated with being located later in time.
The preview showed Daleks. Don't tell me the Weeping Angels and the Daleks are in cahoots! Here's a Dalek that's a lover not a fighter: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Depends on where and how you are watching....the third episode will be upcoming this weekend 5/1 here in the U.S.
