I felt a need to share some of my favorite poets best works.

(From the mind of the wordmaster)
Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel)

You can think up some birds.
That is what you can do.
You can think about yellow
Or think about blue…
You can think about red.
You can think about pink.
You can think up a horse.
Oh, the Thinks you can think!
Oh, the Thinks you can think up
If only you try!…
Think left and think right
And think low and think high.
Oh, the Thinks you can think up
If only you try!

A Dream Within A Dream
Edgar Allen Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if Hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! Yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
Oh God! Can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
Oh God! Can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Tryin' On Clothes
Shel Silverstein
I tried on the farmer's hat,
Didn't fit...
A little too small -- just a bit
Too floppy.
Couldn't get used to it,
Took it off.
I tried on the dancer's shoes,
A little too loose.
Not the kind you could use
for walkin'.
Didn't feel right in 'em,
Kicked 'em off.

I tried on the summer sun,
Felt good.
Nice and warm -- knew it would.
Tried the grass beneath bare feet,
Felt neat.
Finally, finally felt well dressed,
Nature's clothes fit me best.

THIS poll DESERVES to be closed. Polls need to have well thought out, all encompassing options, or at least some semblance of that. This poll blows!:o

Poe should not be mentioned in the same sentence as certain others. Namely Silverstein and Seuss.

Poe is overblown, overrated, and the basis for how much cheap goth culture I never wanted to know .... Actually, it's just that I grew up on literary horror and dark fantasy, and Poe has never played much of a role in that.
