google p2p and youll find some, limewire is by far the best though. and just a word of warning, if your planning to download music made by capitalists(with intellectual property rights) then its best not to start threads on it.

And if you want to download music made by communists...well, you might have trouble, seeing as how there is no incentive for new products (including music) in such a system.

Limewire is fantastic - but I'd highly recommend that you add this technique to your repertoire too:

Search for a torrent of say, the entire discography of a band/musician you like, but then only select the songs you want by deselecting specific files from the torrent.

The advantage of that is that you can see all of that particular artist's work - whereas with Limewire you will see the same song several times, other artists with similar names and probably won't have a complete list either.

This works really well for TV episodes too. Large files are another thing Limewire isn't great for.

No need to compromise though - take both and rule the bandwidth.

Using torrents is better with albums but they'd have to be popular to get a fast download.

Talking about music, I have a lot of music files and I wanted to make a music DVD. Can I copy loads of music to a dvd and just get a media player to play it? Even if the formats are not all the same? Any tips on making one?

Torrentz are ok generally speaking, I haven't come across viruses, only wierd file types that require other programs to run.

Limewire is famous for having spyware in its free version. Then again piracy has its risks right...

I never use P2P or torrent. There's alot out there on music blogs, and music blog aggregators.

Torrents - easiest, most surefire and least liable to viruses.

Ask around your friends for an oink invite. I'd offer you one, but I've none left I'm afraid.

It's the greatest private music torrent site. I've rarely searched for something on there and not found it, and I like some obscure stuff.

Limewire is ok, but I've never had great results. There's a ratings type thing that decides where you are in the queue to download. A lot of people cheat and don't share back - so often you see a file with a few people that have it, but it just won't download. The spirit of the torrent community is much better than p2p progs, especially when your being able to download from certain sites requires you to keep a decent ratio - sharing back what you've taken.

The thing with weird file types in torrents doesn't happen too often. Before you download anything you can see exactly what's in the torrent. e.g. a list of the songs on an album. You can pick and choose which ones you want.

Occasionally, strange file types wise, you'll find things like .mp4, .ogg, .acc, .ape, .flac and other specialist type (usually lossless or apparently better than mp3) files, but none of them nefarious of that difficult to use. The majority of the time, maybe 95%, it's a normal mp3 and everything's great.

I'm a bit of a torrent fanboy in case you hadn't noticed.

Pester everyone you know for an oink invite. Get a demonoid account. Stick www.piratebay.com and www.isohunt.com in your bookmarks and get going

I use torrents myself, but you could also try running this search on google:

"parent directory" mp3 (band/song name) -htm -html -download

Lots of people upload music to websites and forget to close the directory listings, leaving all the files open for download. Torrents are still easier and faster, but if it's just one song I'm looking for I'll usually use the google method.
