RubiksMaster 03-25-07, 12:51 AM And if you want to download music made by communists...well, you might have trouble, seeing as how there is no incentive for new products (including music) in such a system. Blue_UK 03-25-07, 07:54 PM Limewire is fantastic - but I'd highly recommend that you add this technique to your repertoire too: Search for a torrent of say, the entire discography of a band/musician you like, but then only select the songs you want by deselecting specific files from the torrent. The advantage of that is that you can see all of that particular artist's work - whereas with Limewire you will see the same song several times, other artists with similar names and probably won't have a complete list either. This works really well for TV episodes too. Large files are another thing Limewire isn't great for. No need to compromise though - take both and rule the bandwidth. Challenger78 05-15-07, 07:17 AM Using torrents is better with albums but they'd have to be popular to get a fast download. alexb123 05-15-07, 07:36 AM Talking about music, I have a lot of music files and I wanted to make a music DVD. Can I copy loads of music to a dvd and just get a media player to play it? Even if the formats are not all the same? Any tips on making one? John99 05-15-07, 07:43 AM And if you want to download music made by communists...well, you might have trouble, seeing as how there is no incentive for new products (including music) in such a system. good point, if you canot create-steal. we are devolving, not the opposite of evolution (the idiots guide ***** ) but because we are witnessing new generations of people unable to grasp the concept and monumental importance of creation////the first generation that praises idiocy...progeny of the stupid. boneheads, their brains are dying and they dont see this, getting smaller like little golf balls/ hardening, withering, screaming for relief. lifetimes to build seconds to destroy...thank you, thank you, thank you:mad: domesticated om 05-15-07, 07:54 AM Is limewire safe/advert free? I'm fixing with two computers as we speak (both are heavily trojanned.....both had limewire installed) John99 05-15-07, 07:57 AM No--- it is not safe. Challenger78 05-15-07, 07:58 AM Torrentz are ok generally speaking, I haven't come across viruses, only wierd file types that require other programs to run. John99 05-15-07, 08:04 AM only wierd file types that require other programs to run. what file types?:) domesticated om 05-15-07, 08:07 AM Torrentz are ok generally speaking, I haven't come across viruses, only weird file types that require other programs to run. Ugh---- nuff said. I'm never touching it with a ten foot pole. I'm stickin to the alt.cults like a sane person. Nikelodeon 05-15-07, 08:23 AM Or you could buy the music. spuriousmonkey 05-15-07, 08:26 AM madness John99 05-15-07, 08:27 AM I would rather buy from legit source then crack the protection scheme/ even still your not hearing what was put into the original because so much data is thrown out. 30mb to 3mb??? where'd everything go? Avatar 05-15-07, 08:42 AM Why buy? www.jamendo.com Enterprise-D 05-15-07, 10:05 AM Limewire is famous for having spyware in its free version. Then again piracy has its risks right... spidergoat 05-15-07, 11:49 AM I never use P2P or torrent. There's alot out there on music blogs, and music blog aggregators. phonetic 05-15-07, 01:06 PM Torrents - easiest, most surefire and least liable to viruses. Ask around your friends for an oink invite. I'd offer you one, but I've none left I'm afraid. It's the greatest private music torrent site. I've rarely searched for something on there and not found it, and I like some obscure stuff. Limewire is ok, but I've never had great results. There's a ratings type thing that decides where you are in the queue to download. A lot of people cheat and don't share back - so often you see a file with a few people that have it, but it just won't download. The spirit of the torrent community is much better than p2p progs, especially when your being able to download from certain sites requires you to keep a decent ratio - sharing back what you've taken. The thing with weird file types in torrents doesn't happen too often. Before you download anything you can see exactly what's in the torrent. e.g. a list of the songs on an album. You can pick and choose which ones you want. Occasionally, strange file types wise, you'll find things like .mp4, .ogg, .acc, .ape, .flac and other specialist type (usually lossless or apparently better than mp3) files, but none of them nefarious of that difficult to use. The majority of the time, maybe 95%, it's a normal mp3 and everything's great. I'm a bit of a torrent fanboy in case you hadn't noticed. Pester everyone you know for an oink invite. Get a demonoid account. Stick www.piratebay.com and www.isohunt.com in your bookmarks and get going :) Xelios 05-15-07, 01:25 PM I use torrents myself, but you could also try running this search on google: "parent directory" mp3 (band/song name) -htm -html -download Lots of people upload music to websites and forget to close the directory listings, leaving all the files open for download. Torrents are still easier and faster, but if it's just one song I'm looking for I'll usually use the google method. Avatar 05-15-07, 01:48 PM Soulseek is very nice. phlogistician 05-16-07, 10:33 AM I would rather buy from legit source then crack the protection scheme/ Most music CD's don't have any encryption. Music discs that do, technically cannot use the 'CD' logo, as they do not comply with the data format requirements. Encryption on music CDs sucks, Sony got into big trouble over it. even still your not hearing what was put into the original because so much data is thrown out. 30mb to 3mb??? where'd everything go? It's simply data compression. If you rip at a decent bitrate, you get good quality and good compression. |
