I am just curious, am I the only Doctor Who fan here? I do not get it where I live. Has anyone seen the new episodes? Do they do Tom Baker justice? Any feedback would be cool. Thanks.

Too bad those effects can't pass for a high school play today. Whatever happened to "Dempsey and makepeace?" kazakhan 04-05-05, 12:07 AM I've seen the episodes and IMO they are good, it has the same feel\atmosphere type of thing as the Tom Baker stuff. A SF serie that has been running for a few decades. It stands out from other SF series by being, well, British. As such, it has a sort of humour that I can not possibly put in to words without failing miserably. I'll try nonetheless with the help of quotes (from previous series): I loathe bus stations. Terrible places. Full of lost luggage and lost souls. Let me guess. My theories appall you, my heresies outrage you, I never answer letters and you don't like my tie. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on Ace, we've got work to do. Furthermore, it helps to note that the Doctor is able to travel through time and space in an advanced ship which looks exactly like an old London public telephone box (a cunningly chosen disguise). With his companion he fights injustice all over the place and all over time. Usually, this injustice comes in the form of shockingly inexpensive visual effects. The latest series is a considerable improvement though: it actually looks passable. However, the increase in budget didn't stop the writers from concucting B-film type scenes. E.g. the new episode of the last serie involved: - killer windowshop dolls, - recylce bins devouring people, - a magna like evil conciousness. |
