Old font was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

 

Well, what was the old font?? I'm currently getting Veranda 10 pt -- only 'cuz it's the only PC font I keep installed. Prior, I was getting Lucida Grande 12 pt because that's the default on my Mac and because I had no PC True Types installed then.

Just tested something: I deactivated Veranda, and now I'm seeing Lucida Grande 10 pt. I think all that needs be done in the fonts' tag or CSS is to indicate a Sans Serif as the first option followed by whatever else the programmer chooses, then the font you'll see might be the chosen font from your browser prefs.

 

Old font looked like Georgia.

 

God. Georgia is an ugly serif, and one I uninstalled instantly from the System (but Microsoft designed it specifically for web-legibility). Begone! I told it. Take a screenshot and show what everyone's complaining about. How modern life tries us, eh?

This is a good idea, Nick, doing a poll. I wish I thought of it.

Georgia is among my favorite fonts. It's smart-looking, and as an oldbie, I can tell you it's also distinctly SciForums-ish. The font change was the most drastic, and most negative, change for me when the new administration took over.

The smallness of the new font is especially distasteful, due to the fact that the bars which contain our avatars and such are now fatter and thus more visually distracting.

 

Old font is leading new font in the polls 7 to 3.

Allow me to add that Georga makes use of old-style numerals which flow with the letters in the text because they ascend above and dip below the lines: 1234567890. The current font doesn't use them, and thus numbers stick out in a body of text much more: 1234567890

 

And draqon.

 

And Genji.

So far it's 8 to 4, or a majority of 2 to 1 in favor of going back to the old font.

Basically the old font is butt ugly and imo bad for layout also the thing about the numbers being raised or lowers is rather pointless and it breaks the flow.
